Greatsword Variant
Power Mirage is a WvW roaming mesmer build that utilizes dodges, mobility, and invulnerability to avoid damage while being a glass cannon. This build is versatile with its ability to lock down single targets with the Sword and Pistol but also can deal massive AoE damage from range with the Greatsword. As opposed to typical burst power mesmer builds, this one specializes in sustained damage over time.
Distortion allows the use of ambushes, and every signet grants distortion, allowing many ambushes for great mobility when using the Sword Ambush (1) to leap multiple times in a row. Create Mirage Mirrors by using Distortion with many clones up, which can be used to give you Mirage Cloak (this is essentially a dodge). Chain these in a sequence to also trigger your clone ambushes due to the Infinite Horzion trait for heavy and consistent pressure.
Your skill rotation revolves around this sequence:
Create Clones > Use Ambushes > Shatter Clones > Repeat
Create clones with Pistol 4/Greatsword 4 then dodge to trigger your and your clone’s ambush attacks from Infinite Horizon, then shatter. Use F3 for daze if your opponent isn’t pressuring you much, but use F4 Distortion if they are pressuring you, and use F1 for damage if you feel like your enemies are out of cooldowns to avoid the shatter or you have a CC to follow through on.
There is much more clone generation on sword since the ambush creates an extra clone, so be sure to shatter more often when wielding it, but greatsword gets more value out of not shattering and letting the greatsword clones use Split Surge. Try to create more clones before walking into (and therefore triggering the dodge from) the Mirage Mirrors from your Distortion shatter. Distortion only allows your character to use Ambushes, but Mirage Mirrors will make your clones Ambush as well. After pressuring cooldowns and you find an opening or land a good pistol 5, you can go for the typical greatsword burst: Greatsword 2 > 3 > F1

Gameplay
Dagger Variant
The Dagger variant focuses more on disruption from the ambush skills that daze which can trigger many traits, most importantly Power Block which will increase the cooldown of skills interrupted and deal damage and apply weakness.
Sword Ambush is a leap that dazes, and Dagger ambush is a ranged daze, and these all can be multiplied by the Infinite Horizon trait, making all of your clones also daze which can apply your interrupt traits. Illusionary Ambush can further this by giving you more ambushes and more time before your enemies are able to find which mesmer clone is the real one, giving you more time to pressure them. This allows you to lock down your target so long as you are able to constantly summon clones and dodge to ambush. Otherwise, this build lacks sustain and requires you to use mobility from the Sword ambush to reposition or the Blink with Mimic for double teleports.
Basic Burst: Torch 4 > 5 > Sword 33 > Dodge > Ambush 1 > 2 + F1 > F2 > Swap > Pistol 4 > Pistol 5 > Dagger 3 > Dagger 2 > Dodge > Ambush 1 > Mimic > Illusionary Ambush > Dodge > Ambush 1
Distortion also allows you to use ambushes and will create Mirage Mirrors that can activate your Mirage Cloak

SUPER FUN! build! the sheer amount of dodges and split surges u can put out with the clone regen makes this super fun in WvW
What are your thoughts on Absorption in place of Cleansing on the Sword/Pistol set?
Sure is a good alternative if you can handle having less cleanse.
Would this build work with celestial stats? Or do you lose too much burst?
you wouldnt, but you can use celestial with staff builds
