Bitterfrost Frontier Master

Bitterfrost Frontier Master is a sub-collection of “Aurora: Awakening”, and is necessary to obtain the Legendary Accessory Aurora. You must participate in events, defeat enemies, and gather resources in the Bitterfrost Frontier map.

Getting There:

To get to Bitterfrost Frontier, complete the story step “Journey to Bitterfrost Frontier” of the episode “A Crack in the Ice”.

Alternatively, after completing the story, you can use a to bring a different character to the map or with the that can be purchased from the Unbound Magic vendors.

Heavy Glacial Gauntlets

This can be obtained by doing the 21 required achievements from the “A Crack in the Ice” Mastery achievement. Check out the complete guide for mastery on this guide HERE.

Alternatively, you can obtain it by completing the Bitterfrost Frontier WvW/PvP reward track.

Plump Winterberry

You have a chance to obtain this item when gathering Winterberry nodes. You can find these resource nodes across the entire map. They are visible on the mini-map (until collected) but they won’t show on the full-screen map.

Frozen Winterberry

To obtain this item, you have a chance when opening Icebound Chests. Use Koda’s Flame to melt the ice covering them.

Purchase this item from Sun Warming for 7000 Karma after completing the Renown Heart at Brakbrak Ice Snarl.

Protector of Griffons

Purchase this item from Woomulla for 7000 Karma after completing the Renown Heart at Griffon Old Growth.

Friend of Quaggans

Purchase this item from Farmer Simooba for 7000 Karma after completing the Renown Heart at Dragon’s Teeth Hot Springs.

Enemy of the Svanir

Purchase this item from the Svanir Seer for 7000 Karma after completing the Renown Heart at The Svanir Hive. To interact with this vendor you will need a disguise. Collect all the parts for the Svanir Disguise (Helm, Chest, and Legs) by killing the Svanir in the zone. Once you have all the parts, click any of them to combine them, wear the disguise and you will be able to trade with the Heart Vendor.

Crystallized Suet

This item has a chance of dropping when opening the Icebound Chests located in the Bitter Cold. You can open once per day per character.

You will need to craft a Thaw Elixir to survive The Bitter Cold area of the map by negating the effect of “Bitter Cold” grating you “Cold Resistance”. Once you complete the story step “Elixir Cookin” you will be able to create it only with that character. It says it has a duration of 24 hours but the effects will disappear at daily reset. So while you get it from doing the story, you might need to make it again, so here are the ingredients for it:

12 Fresh Winterberry – Mostly gather Winterberry Bushes around the map
8 Clump of Frostbitten Suet – Dropped by any creature on the map
3 Cold Resistance Eggshell – Placing Abandoned Griffon Eggs in the Egg Warmer near Woomulla the heart quest NPC
1 Grawl Firestone – Purchased from Sun Warming heart quest NPC for 1050 Karma

Once you have the ingredients, interact with the hot springs at the Blister Cauldron – [&BHwJAAA=] to brew the elixir.

Now that you have the “Cold Resistance” effect you can get to The Bitter Cold and loot the Icebound Chests.

To reach chest number 3, you’ll need to melt the ice covering the entrance to the cave behind the frozen waterfall. To do this, use the mirror that is located near chest number 2. The chest number 5 is underwater. To get to it, use one of the diving goggles located near it and jump down to break the ice.

Mini Aurene

To obtain this mini you need to complete the Gift of Aurene collection. You must collect 8 parts to create an Aurene miniature, these can be crafted or simply bought from the Trading Post.

If you decide to craft them you can buy the recipes from Slooshoo NPC in the Sorrows Eclipse Sanctuary – [&BH0JAAA=] using Gold and Unbound Magic. Remember to right-click the items and select the “add to collection” option.

These five items are obtained by killing the champions that spawn during the “Kill Jormag’s Champion” event, which takes place as the final part of the Beacons of Koda meta-event at night. These champions spawn at the Braziers randomly. Although you can see where the champions spawn on the map, it does not tell you which one until you get to them, so it might take you a couple of tries until you kill the five champions.
