The Celestial Soulbeast is a ranger WvW roaming build that specializes in dueling because of how much survivability it has while also dealing great damage. However, it lacks utility for allies so it usually wants to stick to the smallest fights possible.
Both the Sword and Axe have sustained damage options which you can get value from the power and crit damage as well as the bleeding applied by them. These hybrid damage options are amplified by the Skirmishing traits to give you decent damage output from both while not investing into only one damage source.
Because this build has high passive defense from toughness and good uptime on protection when dodging and merging/unmerging with the pet, you can mostly play aggressively and shrug off power burst pressure with the Dolyak Stance. Conditions are also easy to handle because damaging conditions deal less damage while you have protection, and all of the Survival utility skills will cleanse conditions.
You can swap pet while merged due to the Eternal Bond trait, allowing for extended combos and more control over which pet is available since there are separate cooldowns for the pet swap while merged and the pet swap while not merged.

- Smokescale Merge > Sharpening Stone > Torch 4 > F2
- Entangle > Torch 5 > Sword 3 > 2 > Swap Pet > F1 > F2 > F3

- Janthiri Bee Merge > Sharpening Stone > Warhorn 5 > 4 > Axe 3
- F1 > Axe 2 > F2 > Entangle > F3 > Swap Weapon
- Torch 5 > Sword 3 > 2 > Torch 4 > Swap Pet > F2 > F3

- Unmerge (F5) > Swap Pet to Smokescale (F4) > F2 > Sword 3 > 2 / Warhorn 5

This or the Sic em roamer for a newer wvw /roamer? Can this be used with shortbow ?
Sic Em is more damage burst, this one is more sustain
Ia this still viable for roaming ?? Or more of a bunker ? I like to roll solo or small groups . And sustain on othe ranger specs in lacking
Yes is very viable to solo, its very bunker and you can do big damage if you setup the combo correctly
Will smokescale be more damage? Could u also use alpine wolf instead of owl ?
You can use any that suits your style better, I just found necessary to get Prelude Lash to pull into Axe #5

What makes the “Nature Magic Variant” 70% difficult compared to the 40% of Raven? Is it the rotation in general or are you less tanky as a whole?
Simple because the Bastmastery trait line gives a lot of stats and buff to your pet, and you will get them when you merge, so it’s by default easier and actually better.

Is the nature magic variant still viable? Ive not played for 2 years and i used to play that back then, i prefer it to be honest. You get a lot more protection uptime along with increased strike damage per boon.

Hi Jen. Just wanted to Share my two builds which i have been using for long time. Both works well, just staff wariation has better sustain and dissengage and the axe one is better dueler. Thx a lot for your work and gl hf 🙂 dodging is a part of the rotation with both builds.
