WuWa. Wuthering Waves Changli Guide Character Build. Fusion DPS. Sub DPS.
Changli is a 5-star character that wields a Sword and uses Fusion as her elemental damage. She is a main DPS character with extremely long-winded damage phases, allowing him to be one of the best damage characters if he can be supported properly.
Pros – Extremely easy to Parry with. Fun combos and decision making.
Cons – Her combos can be interrupted easily and her Dodge Counter evade frame is short, making her not ideal for more dangerous boss attack sequences. Takes long to perform her full rotation.
Team Compositions – She can buff other Fusion damage characters and Resonance Liberation Damage with her Outro. However, she requires a bit more investment than a pure Sub DPS, so either use her as a pure DPS or as a secondary DPS with quick swapping.
Skills and Playstyle
Basic Attack – A chain of four attacks. After the fourth attack, enter True Sight mode for 12 seconds. This attack chain can be performed while in the air, allowing you to float.
Heavy Attack – Perform an upward attack that will skip you through the Basic Attack chain to the third part. Try to do two basic attacks after this to gain True Sight.
Look at the buff above your health bar to see when you have True Sight.
True Sight – While in True Sight mode, you can perform a Jump (Space Bar), Aerial Attack, or Ground Basic Attack to dash at the enemy for Resonance Skill damage, ending True Sight and giving 1 stack of Enflamement (her Forte resource) up to 4 stacks. This attack also slows time.
Which attack you choose to do in True Sight will change depending on how you want to react to the situation. Using a Ground Basic Attack with True Sight will just lunge forward to attack, while Jumping or an Aerial Attack will soar you into the air which can provide vertical movement to avoid ground attacks or allow you to do aerial attacks.
Aerial/Plunge Attack – Changli can perform her Basic Attack chain while floating in the air, but only one chain before a True Sight attack. Holding down the Left Mouse button while in the air will perform a Plunging Attack which will also skip to the third part of the Basic Attack chain. Try to do two basic attacks after this to gain True Sight.
Dodge Counter – After dodging an attack, Changli’s Basic Attack chain can be skipped to the third part of the chain, allowing you to gain True Sight by using 2 Basic Attacks after Dodging. If you have True Sight, you will instead use the True Sight attack.
Resonance Skill (E) – This skill has two charges that can be used with a low cooldown of 12 seconds. Dash towards the enemy and afterwards perform a ground slam and enter True Sight mode for 12 seconds. The initial dash is great for Parrying.
Forte Circuit – At 4 stacks of Enflamement, your Heavy Attack will consume all stacks to perform a strong attack in a large radius around you, dealing Resonance damage. Receive 40% less damage during this somewhat long and vulnerable animation.
Enflamement stacks can be gained by:
- 1 – True Sight > Jump
- 1 – True Sight > Basic Attack
- 4 – Resonance Liberation
These attacks need to hit an enemy to grant stacks of Enflamement, but True Sight can be gained from the fourth attack in the Basic Attack chain or the Resonance Skill regardless of whether they hit. Also avoid using your Resonance Liberation while you have stacks of Enflamement to avoid going over the cap.
Resonance Liberation (R) – Deals a large amount of damage to nearby enemies, gains four stacks of Enflamement, and will cause her next Forte Heavy Attack within 10 seconds to give her an additional 25% ATK.
Rotation
Changli has a dynamic rotation that relies on decision making and reacting to boss attacks because of how many ways she can enter the True Sight mode. You can use either the Jump or Basic True Sight attack, but depending on the situation you’ll use a different method to gain the True Sight.
- Attack Chain – 4 Basic Attacks > True Sight
- Intro – True Sight > Plunge > 2 Basic > True Sight
- Parry – E > True Sight
- Gap Close – E > True Sight
- Dodge – Dodge Counter > 2 Basic Attacks > True Sight
- Aerial Plunge – Jump > Heavy Attack > 2 Basic Attacks > True Sight
The ideal rotation would be to use the Aerial Plunges and the True Sight Jump which create a fast loop to gain Forte as soon as possible, but this can leave you vulnerable to attacks and deplete your stamina faster.
- Intro > True Sight Jump > E > TS Jump > Plunge > 2 Basic > TS Jump > E > TS Basic
Find your best method to get True Sight and once you reach 4 stacks of Forte Enflamement, use the Forte.
- Q > Forte Heavy Attack > R > Forte Heavy Attack
Avoid using your Ultimate when you have stacks of Enflamement, or you’ll waste stacks over the cap.
Intro – Leaves you airborne and enters into True Sight mode for 12 seconds. Use your Aerial Attack to consume True Sight and do a Plunge afterwards followed by Two Basic Attacks and another True Sight attack for a quick 2 stacks of Enflamement after your Intro.
- Intro > True Sight Basic > Plunge Basic > 2 Basic Attacks > True Sight Basic
Outro – The next character has their Fusion damage increased by 20% and Resonance Liberation damage increased by 25% for 10 seconds or until swapped out.

All of the sequences provide a moderate damage increase, with the fifth and sixth providing by far the most. Don’t go for sequences unless you really want to go all in. With 0 sequences she plays the exact same way as with 6 and performs well.
