Feilian Beringal Boss Guide

WuWa. Feilian Beringal Wuthering Waves Boss Guide. Mechanics.

The open world version of Feilian Beringal can be found in the Dim Forest. The hologram is to the east of there.

Reward Roaring Rock Fist

EchoAero – Transform and perform a kick, if that lands perform another strike. If the follow-up strike hits, increase the current character’s Aero and Heavy Attack Damage by 12% for 15 seconds.

This guide will show mechanics based on the Hologram Challenge up to difficulty VI, but the mechanics hardly change between different versions.

Before you take on this boss, there are some preparations you can make:

  • Feilian Beringal is resistant to Aero Damage, avoid using an Aero DPS character
  • DPS is important here, use food consumables for extra ATK or Crit
  • Characters with Ranged or Aerial Attacks can keep hitting while the boss is on their tree branch

Special Mechanism

When fighting the Hologram boss, there are some extra effects at higher difficulties. At difficulty 5 and higher you will want to keep these in mind.

  • When there is less than 2 minutes left on the timer, the boss will start doing much more damage.
  • Intro skills reduce boss stagger more when at full health.
  • Ten consecutive Dodge Counters without being hit will greatly deplete the boss stagger bar.

These mechanics punish you more for getting hit by mechanics, so focus on learning how to avoid all attacks before trying to beat the timer.

Mechanics

Aero Erosion Effect – Many of Feilian Beringal’s attacks will apply a debuff to you if they hit. It will deal damage to you over time. This can stack a number of times for a more intense effect. You should avoid being hit regardless of this effect.

The main issue with this boss is optimizing your damage output because of how much health the monkey has and how long some of his mechanics last. Otherwise, his attack pattern is extremely predictable and simplistic. Remembering these patterns can allow you to know when the openings for your damage combos are.

Swipe – At the beginning of the fight, Feilian Beringal will do two swipes at you. These are fairly predictable on their timings and you can just dodge them. After these first two swipes, the boss will scratch his stomach, giving you a bit of time to attack, and then do another swipe.

Grapple – Once the monkey has done the first three swipes, it will leap backwards and prepare to grab you. A large yellow circle will appear to show you the Parry timing on this attack, which is already telegraphed by the backwards leap.

Leap – After the Grapple has been used regardless of whether you Parry it or not, Feilian Beringal will perform two leap attacks. The timing to dodge these is fairly predictable, right after he starts descending from the sky.

Ground Pound – After the leaps, the boss will raise its hands and begin pounding on the ground to create shockwaves three times. You can use Aerial Attacks to keep hitting the boss during these, but just dodging each shockwave to enable Dodge Counters will also suffice.

After this point the boss will go back to the beginning of the rotation and repeat as such:

2 Swipes > 1 Swipe > Grapple Parry > 2 Leaps > 3 Ground Pounds

It will keep repeating this rotation until the first time you break the Stagger bar or reaching around 60-70% of the boss’s health. Then it will start to use more mechanics in a different rotation. Be prepared for when the Stagger occurs to have your damage combos, because this is the best time to do damage.

After you break the Stagger the first time, the boss will grab a big tree branch and use it to fight from now on. Also whenever you stagger the boss, they will always do the Pole Shockwave mechanic.

Pole Shockwave – Feilian Beringal jumps on top of his tree branch and begins hitting it to create shockwaves that you must dodge or jump over. Dodge towards the wave and double dodge when there are consecutive waves. This attack only happens after the boss recovers from the Stagger.

Roar Parry – The new rotation begins with the boss roaring and then doing a swing with the tree branch. Watch the yellow circles for the Parry timing on this attack. If you don’t parry, the boss will do a second swing before moving on.

Slam/Swing – Like the previous phase, the boss will do some slow and telegraphed attacks you must dodge. This time the attacks are a bit more difficult to time because they are not as smooth as before. There will be a kick/slam and then a few swings with the tree branch. All of these have large windows of time to attack the boss in between.

Whirlwind – The boss will eventually roar again, but this time you will see the wind pick up in the area. Afterwards the boss will begin spinning multiple times, swinging the tree branch each time. The animation to dodge this isn’t very clear so you can easily get hit even though you dodge right next to the boss. Because it has so many hits and they aren’t the most obvious animation to avoid, this is one of the more dangerous mechanics, but there are three ways to play around it:

Dodge – The most risky play is to dodge towards the left since the swing is moving counter-clockwise to ensure you can trigger the evade frame each revolution. Although this is risky, it is also the highest damage option because you gain Concerto every time you dodge which can allow you to follow up with Into/Outro skills sooner and allows you to keep spamming Dodge Counters for damage so long as you’re playing a character that evades on Dodge Counter.

Glide – The wind created by the boss also serves as an updraft that you can glide in by double jumping and using the Grapple Hook. You need to stay near the boss to catch the updraft and if you don’t start gliding fast enough you’ll be in range.

Run – The safest way to avoid this is to just run away from the boss so you are nowhere near. No always is this an option if the boss is in the center of the room. If they are on one side you can run to the other, or you can decide to begin dodging half way into the mechanic.

The mechanic rotation of phase 2 looks like this:

Roar Parry > Slam > Two Swings > Roar Whirlwind

If at any point during this you Stagger the boss, they will do the Shockwaves and then restart the rotation.

Shadow Monkeys Introduced in difficulty level 6 is one new mechanic. These shadow monkeys only appear at specific points in the boss attack pattern, so they don’t change the scripted mechanics, only add on to them. They can be hard to see because of their color and positioning away from the boss, and they also shoot a projectile which makes the attacking timing not as predictable.

Here are the moments when the Shadow Monkeys appear in the scripted rotation:

Phase 1

  • 2 Swipes > Shadow Monkey
  • 1 Swipe > Shadow Monkey
  • Grapple Parry > 2 Leaps > Shadow Monkey
  • 3 Ground Pounds

Phase 2

  • Multiple Shadow Monkeys after each Stagger + Pillar Shockwaves
  • Roar Parry > Slam > Shadow Monkey
  • Two Swings > Shadow Monkey
  • Roar Whirlwind

The timing for dodging these is slightly after after they appear. They can interrupt your damage combo while the boss is vulnerable, but at least you can use more Dodge Counters if you evade them. You can also save your Intro or Resonance Liberation evade frames to avoid the Shadow Monkeys so you don’t need to stop dealing damage. Optimization of your animations is important here because of the massive amount of health the boss has, making the DPS check very strict.
