WuWa. Wuthering Waves Mortefi Guide Character Build. Fusion Sub DPS. Skill Priority.
Mortefi is a 4-star character that wields Pistols and uses
Fusion as his elemental damage. He is a
Sub DPS with an Ultimate that allows teammates to deal extra damage on their attacks while he is off-field.
Pros – Rotation can be finished very quickly to swap to main characters while still providing most of his support as a Sub DPS. Very easy to use.
Cons – Mostly ineffective without his Ultimate, so you must build for Energy Regen and there aren’t many other options or flexibility.
Team Compositions – Mortefi doesn’t need much stage-time to get value and his Ultimate keeps triggering Coordinated Attacks with a very low internal cooldown even when he isn’t in play. He also gives extra benefits to Heavy Attack damage, so preferably team him with a DPS that has quick Heavy Attacks.
Skills and Playstyle
Basic Attack – His ranged Basic Attack chain fills the Forte bar slowly and does decent damage.
Heavy Attack – Holding down the Heavy Attack will lock you in place but allow you to manually aim. Use this only to pierce multiple enemies.
Resonance Skill (E) – Fires a high damage shot at the target which grants a high amount of Forte. Allows his next four Basic Attacks to gain high amounts of Forte.
Forte Circuit – When at full Forte, a second Resonance Skill may be cast, independent of the first one’s cooldown. You want to shoot this as soon as possible so you can start gaining Forte again. Both the Resonance Skill and the Forte Resonance Skill generate a decent amount of Concerto.
Resonance Liberation (R) – Buffs all allies for 10 seconds, triggering an extra damaging effect which counts as Coordinated Attacks whenever they hit with a Basic or Heavy Attack once every 0.35 seconds. Heavy Attacks will trigger this effect twice every interval while Basic Attacks will only once. While Mortefi can still take advantage of the buff from his own Ultimate, you want to swap as soon as you use this usually, but this also grants him concerto energy so you don’t want to wait until you are full Concerto to use it. Watch the Concerto bar and use the Resonance Liberation as soon as it reaches the final quadrant or last 25% of the circle which will grant him the last bit of Concerto he needs to swap but also minimize the time needed to do so.
Rotation
Always use the Resonance Skill when possible, then Basic Attack to charge the Forte for more Resonance Skills which grant faster Concerto. Use The Resonance Liberation when at 75% of the way or during the last quadrant to fully fill Concerto, as it will finish off your bar and allow you to immediately swap during the cast time of your Echo Skill..
- E > Four Basic Attacks > E
- R > Q > Outro
Outro Skill – The next character’s Heavy Attack Damage is increased by 38% for 14 seconds or until they swap.

Weapons
- Static Mist (Convene 5-star) – Crit Rate – Increases Energy Regen by 13%, and when using an Outro the next character gains 10% ATK for 14 seconds.
- Novaburst (Convene 4-star) – ATK – When dodging or dashing, increase ATK by 4% for 8 seconds, stacking 3 times.
- Undying Flame (Convene 4-star) – ATK – Increases Resonance Damage by 20% for 15 seconds after Intro.
- Pistols#26 (Crafted 4-star) – ATK – Increases ATK by 6% every 5 seconds, stacking twice. If you take damage, lose a stack and restore 5% HP.
Echo Skill 1 (Q) – Moonlit Clouds – Impermanence Heron – Buffs your next character for 12% more damage for 15 seconds on Outro if the attack hits. The perfect Sub DPS playstyle enabler.
Echo Skill 2 (Q) – Moonlit Clouds – Bell-Borne Geochelone – Grants a buff for 15 seconds that gives 50% damage reduction on the next 3 hits and 10% damage while it persists. Transfers to your other characters. Useful for more quick swapping compositions where you need the buff to persist when swapping characters, unlike the Heron buff which ends after the next swap.

Should you try to pull extra sequences for Mortefi?
Yes. They mostly make his Ultimate skill better, but since that is where most of his value comes from these sequences provide a massive improvement in the team’s damage. The fourth and sixth sequences are the best, so decide if you want to invest that far into him or not even though it should be easy to get sequences for a 4-star. He may not be the character that is played often so you won’t feel he is worth the investment, but he does improve the effectiveness of your team composition greatly even while out of view.
