Mourning Aix Boss Guide

WuWa. Mourning Aix Wuthering Waves Boss Guide. Mechanics.

The open world version of Mourning Aix can be found in the Whining Aix Mire and the Tactical Hologram is to the east of there.

Reward Elegy Tacet Core

EchoSpectro – Transform and perform two claw attacks. Afterwards increase the current character’s Spectro and Resonance Liberation Damage by 12% for 15 seconds.

This guide will show mechanics based on the Hologram Challenge V, which may be different to other versions of this boss.

Before you take on this boss, there are some preparations you can make:

  • Mourning Aix is resistant to Spectro Damage, avoid using a Spectro DPS character.
  • Parry is important here, make sure you have a character that can reliably do so.
  • Fast Concerto characters can be useful for extra Evade Frames and Parry from the Intro Skills to handle the different mechanic timings.

Special Mechanism

When fighting the Hologram boss, there are some extra effects at higher difficulties. At difficulty 5 and higher you will want to keep these in mind.

  • When there is less than 2 minutes left on the timer, the boss will start doing much more damage.
  • Dodges cost more when low on health.
  • Five consecutive Parries without being hit will greatly deplete the boss stagger bar.

These mechanics punish you more for getting hit by mechanics, so focus on learning how to avoid all attacks before trying to beat the timer.

Mechanics

Spectro Frazzle Effect – Many of Mourning Aix’s attacks will apply a debuff to you if they hit. It will deal damage to you over time. This can stack a number of times for a more intense effect. Also at higher stacks it may prevent you from swapping characters or dodging. Make sure to avoid being hit instead of trading blows or you may be punished harder.

When looking for the telegraphs of each attack of Mourning Aix, Light is the main theme. Where and when the diamond of light shows will often tell you which attack is coming and how to handle it. Also look for the yellow Parry circles.

Beam – Light diamond will appear below Mourning Aix and eventually the boss shoots a beam. Dodge to the side or jump and glide over it. There is a lingering effect from the beam, so do not dodge straight into it. After this attack the Projectile attack will usually follow.

Projectiles – Light will appear above the boss before this attack, then many rays of light will come out and surround you. If you are standing right next to the boss, these can instantly hit you. Move away to get more time and then dodge backwards into the projectiles circling you to get the evade frame as soon as possible to dodge the attack.

This mechanic can also potentially shoot out three waves of projectiles. This happens immediately after you fail to parry the Grab attack. If three waves of projectiles come out, it is very likely you will get hit unless you can position and time your dodges perfectly. Using Intros or Ultimates for extra evade frames may be necessary to avoid being hit. It is much better to play around parrying the Grab than to try to avoid the triple wave projectiles attack.

Sweep – A low attack that can be dodged. You will see the light on the arm of the boss very faintly because their arm is behind them. There will be many attacks similar to this one but from different angles.

Grab – Two Yellow Circles will appear, one on each arm, before Mourning Aix will attempt to grab you and deal heavy damage. This can be dodged, but you should instead Parry this because that will prevent the triple Projectiles attack from happening.

When the boss slowly floats upward while doing a flip, there are two potential attacks it can do. One is the Grab and the other is a Sweep. When you see the upward flip, prepare to decide between a Dodge or a Parry. The yellow circles while the boss is moving indicates a Sweep, and yellow circles while it is not moving and looking right at you is the Grab.

Make sure you know which animation the boss is doing before committing to an attack because you do not want to miss the Parry.

Flight – Your camera may need to be adjusted when the boss flies high into the sky. You can lock-on to the boss using the Middle Mouse Button, or you can manually look up. The attack will occur after the flourish of light coming out of the wings. This is when you want to Parry as well because the boss will swoop in very quickly. Your Parry animation should feel like it is early.

Spin – Keep distance as the boss spins towards you, or double dodge into the spin. It is a multi-hitting attack, so you need to be constantly dodging when it reaches you.

These are most of the mechanics you need to know. The rest you can avoid using the knowledge you have of these. Just remember that most animations will warn you with the yellow circles or the light diamond. Use these to guide you on which animation is happening and when to counter/avoid it.
