GW2. Raid Build. Power Rifle Daggers Deadeye. Thief PvE DPS.

Last Update: September 2023
DPS Variant
Overview
The Power Deadeye is a high damage, single target DPS thief build with a rifle and daggers. It has great self-buffing capabilities to be able to split from the group and can also serve as a kiter due to the long range of rifle and self healing.
Playstyle
Role: Kiter or DPS
Always Deadeye’s Mark the target (F1) to be able to gain malice which you can then expend for heavy damage sneak attacks. Reaching maximum malice not only gives you more damage on the sneak attack, but also gives you more initiative due to Maleficent Seven. Landing a critical hit with a weapon skill gives 2 malice and no crit gives 1. You can perform a Dagger or Rifle rotation, so swap to the weapon that suits the current situation. If you can melee, swap to Daggers, but if you can’t melee or are unable to backstab swap to Rifle.
Use Mercy to be able to swap the target of your Deadeye’s Mark or if you are low on initiative due to missing crits or a sneak attack. Use Assassin’s Signet right before landing your Sneak Attack and don’t waste an animation on recasting Deadeye’s Mark during the duration, or use it for a burst before you will need to perform mechanics so it recharges during that time.
Rifle Rotation:
- Kneel Rifle 5
- Upkeep F1 on your target
- Kneeling Rifle 3 until full malice
- Enter Stealth (rifle 4 while kneeling, F2 stolen ability, or Hide in Shadows)
- Death’s Judgment Stealth Rifle 1
- Repeat from Rifle 3
Mercy can also be used to skip a Death’s Judgment and use a few more Rifle 3 if you run out of stealth application.
Dagger Rotation:
- Upkeep F1 on your target
- Dagger 4 x2 (Dagger 2 if target is below 50% health)
- Dagger 5
- Backstab Stealth Dagger 1
- Dagger 1 Full Chain
- Repeat from Dagger 4
Make sure to position behind the target to land the Backstab (1) or it won’t do maximum damage. If you don’t crit and lack malice or initiative, use another Dancing Dagger or Mercy to recover.

Gameplay
Quickness Variant
Using the same gear but different traits and playstyle, Deadeyes can grant Quickness to their allies with the Stolen Time (F2) ability, which they can guaranteed get from Deadeye’s Mark (F1) when choosing the Fire for Effect trait. You can keep generating Stolen Time as well when using Cantrips (specific utility skills) due to the One in the Chamber trait. Stolen abilities will also grant you stealth when used with 5 Malice, allowing you to use your Deadeye’s Malicious Sneak Attacks while providing quickness to your group. Swap between the Dagger/Dagger set and Rifle depending on how much mobility or range you need. The Improvisation trait will reduce the cooldown of your utility skills and give you more Stolen Times, allowing constant rotation between Initiative skills and Stolen abilities.
Rifle Rotation:
- Stay Kneeled (Rifle 5) for more damage at cost of movement speed
- Upkeep F1 on your target (Assassin’s Signet before Marking to reduce CD)
- Rifle 3 until full malice
- F2 while full malice to Enter Stealth (use Cantrip to get more F2 if needed)
- Death’s Judgment Stealth Rifle 1
- Repeat from Rifle 3
Sometimes you will run out of initiative, and using Mercy will grant you full initiative if you consume Malice with it. Prioritize using F2 to keep up Quickness on your team even if you don’t have enough malice to enter stealth.
Dagger Rotation:
- Upkeep F1 on your target (Assassin’s Signet before Marking to reduce CD)
- Dagger 5 > 1 (Sneak Attacks Reveal you)
- F2 while you are Revealed (use Cantrip to get more F2 if needed)
- Dagger 111 until no longer Revealed
- Use Dagger 5 > 1 as soon as you aren’t Revealed
Because Mercy gives you plenty of initiative and another Mark cooldown, prioritize using it first. Don’t use it if your Mark cooldown is almost up anyway. Delaying it will allow double the Marks and therefore much more Stolen Time. Fight mechanics will certainly complicate this priority, and in general you should use Dagger abilities when you are able to attack the target, and swap to Rifle or use Stolen Time and Cantrips when you aren’t in close range of the boss.

Gameplay
Kiting as a Deadeye
As a Kiter, Deadeyes mainly stay on their Rifle for DPS and they forego daggers for more utility and CC from the Sword/Pistol set. Kiting in general is encounter specific, but it is important to be able to survive alone to be able to perform your role so taking a little more sustain can help.
Consider these two traits:
- Deadly Arts: for better self sustain
- Critical Strikes: for better self sustain
Below is a video guide of a specific encounter, but you should always build towards whatever the current encounter needs. For example:
- Sabetha Wing 1 – Shadowstep and Self Sustain
- Qadim Wing 6 – Shadow Portal and Self Sustain
- Qadim Wing 7 – Shadowstep and Self Sustain
