Overview

The Blood Reaper is a heavy damage necromancer roaming build due to the ferocity gains and quickness while in reaper shroud. Because the reaper shroud requires melee range, your survival depends on your ability to kite. Permanent swiftness from entering Shroud with Speed Relic makes up for this by allowing you to disengage and keep up with your targets.

Synergy

Dagger attacks give you more Shroud to stay alive, but also Dagger 2 heals you quite a bit. You deal more damage to chilled enemies, but chill is also a super powerful condition that debilitates enemies. Try to land Focus 5, Shroud 3 is a fear which becomes chill, Shroud 5, and Greatsword 5 to lock your enemies down with chill. Once they are chilled, hit them with your heavy damage attacks such as Dagger 2, Greatsword 3, Shroud 1/4.

Playstyle

Constantly cast “Your Soul Is Mine!” to generate Life Force even when out of combat.

Open with Spinal Shivers Focus 5 to chill and remove boons from your target, then use Dagger 3 to immobilize and further deny your target boons. Dagger 2 and Greatsword 3 are the main damage sources while the target is CC. Afterwards Cast Greatsword 4 for a pulsing blind AoE and 5 to pull them back to you. Always use both weapon sets if possible before entering Shroud to get the most value out of their cooldowns. If you’re under pressure enter Shroud sooner.

While in Shroud pressure targets with your 1 and 4 skill when in melee. Use 3 and 5 to CC, and 2 to kite and chase targets with Shroud 2. Saving the 3 for Stability can be useful to help you to stick to your target rather than immediately spamming it for the Fear. Prefer to use Shroud 2 right before you exit Shroud to either disengage or to get you in position to use your weapon skills.

  1. I wanted a toughness equal to the condition core build, would it work, marauder armor and knight trinkets and weapons? or doesn’t all this toughness make sense?

    Also would Rune of the Centaur also be an option for this if you don’t mind a lower health pull?

        I been playing pvp for about 9 months on blood reaper and im very new to wvw. 🙂
        For now went with your build using speed runes and a mix of marauder and some berserkers 🙂 will see how that goes.

  4. Hi, I want to run the Death Magic variant but am confused regarding sigils. You say Sigil of Earth is needed, exactly which sigils are you replacing from your basic setup? Also, do you recommend Rune of Centaur or Rune og Speed)

    • Sorry for the confusion I will edit to make it clear now. For Death Magic use Axe and Warhorn with Earth/Hydromancy and Staff with Energy/Cleansing
