GW2. Best Open World Build. Power Willbender Open World. Guardian PvE.
Last Update: September 2024
The Power Willbender Open World build is the fastest Guardian, allowing a melee assassin playstyle. It travels around with ports and leaps from the weapon and virtue skills, then unloads a huge burst with symbols and many multi-hitting attacks. The more you hit the enemy the more the virtues trigger, making it possible to sustain with the Resolve F2 and Courage F3 when fighting larger packs of enemies.
Use the double sword set to port in and prepare your burst, then use F1 to get your buffs and swap to greatsword to use the rest of your symbols and damage. If the targets survive your immediate burst, you can be quite squishy when you have no cooldowns, get some defenses or distance with your F3, F2, or even the greatsword 3 to wait for your weapon swap cooldowns and your next burst. Then repeat when ready.
Burst Combos:
Starting in Sword (main burst)
- Sword 2 > F1(or F3) > Swap
- Greatsword 5 > 4 > 5 > 2 > Whirling Light
Starting in Greatsword (if they survive the first)
- Heaven’s Palm > Greatsword 3 > 2 > Swap
- Sword 2 > F1 > 5 > 4 > 3

Hi, thank you for all your builds on this site. I’ve been using the core leveling Guardian build and have just made it to HoT story, and it’s been a breeze thanks to your builds! Now that I’m slowly earning HoT hero points, I’m looking more and more into this willbender build.
A question about the gear in this build though.I’ve been hearing that the “Dragon” gear is for when a character is guaranteed 100% crit chance, to benenfit from higher ferocity as much as possible. I see the “increased crit chance” modifiers in the traits, but are there any other sources of crit chance? Or would it be alright if I were to mix some precision gear along with the dragon gear you have specified?
You should think of your base crit chance and go from there being as efficient as possible. If you want vitality and precision, then go marauder or dragon, if you dont want vitality go berserker, don’t want precision go valkyrie. However you mix it is fine depending on your priorities. However, the best way to maximize damage is to just get berserker, so if you are making concessions to get vitality (which is advisable) then dragons is probably the best.
Hello, hey, can’t you change advance or maintain your position for another damage ability or clear conditions?
Hey what is the difference of this build with that of celestial willbender, advantages and pros. thank you
