Support Honor Firebrand PvP Build

GW2. Support Honor Firebrand PvP Build. Support Guardian PvP.

Last Update: September 2024

Staff Variant

The Support Honor Firebrand is a Guardian PvP build with powerful abilities from the virtue tomes that can turn the tide of a team fight. However, because these tomes have cast times, it makes you susceptible to CC and being focused. Try to stay with your team not only to keep them alive but also because you become more survivable the more boons you share due to Altruistic Healing.

Healing Sources: Dodging on Allies, Shield 5 (2nd cast), F2 Tome, Staff 2/4

Aegis Sources: Mantra of Solace, “Advance!”, Shield 4, F3 Tome 5

CC Combo: Shield 5 > F1 Tome 3 > F3 Tome 2

Use the Mantra of Solace early on to heal nearby allies because the Relic of the Flock has a 10 second cooldown which you want to trigger as often as possible. Place the Staff 5 in the middle of objectives or near teammates to disrupt enemies or to peel for your allies. Prioritize using the F3 tome for protection earlier in the fight to mitigate damage, but swap to the F2 tome to heal and cleanse allies back up. Because of the Swift Scholar trait, every 3 tome abilities used within one opening of a tome will refund a page, meaning you will get more value if you do at least one 3 skill combo before leaving that tome.

F1 Combo: 5 > 4 > 3

F2 Combo: 2 > 3 > 4 > Staff 2

Avoid going for the Swift Scholar in the F3 tome because the individual skills are more situational and costly. Only go in for the F3 tome 3 when reflects are needed, the 4 when you need a stun break or to get resistance to your team, or the 5 for some extra defense.

Hammer Variant

The Hammer variant of the Support Firebrand has a more aggressive approach by disabling enemies with the Hammer and other control effects while also having powerful utility from its tomes to heal or cleanse allies. Stay with your team and give them buffs while you lock their target down. You can be an easy target to focus, so don’t stand on the node unless your team needs you there to support them. Use terrain and Sanctuary to peel for yourself if being focused.

  1. Been having a ton of fun in this build. It also works well with the new stoic demeanor (which only has a 1 sec cooldown!).

Thank you so much for sharing this build. It’s been nice to play a FB again in regular ranked. Although I had forgotten how angry people get when they see a FB on their team in sPvP. If I had a gem for every necro that I had to block for verbal abuse before the match even began…

  2. Maybe its me but this is one of the most underwhelming builds of yours that I’ve ever played.

  3. Hello, thank you for this wonderful build. I have one question about the Legendary lore trait, I don’t see any changes on buffs duration with or without it and so went with Stalwart speed, instead. What benefits does Legendary lore really provides? I’m not sure to understand the mechanic of it maybe? I’m new to guard profession. thanks an take
    care 🙂
