Below is a list of all the playable characters in Wuthering Waves, their weapon types, elemental damage types, the potential roles they can fill in a team composition, and synergies with other characters. There are many ways to play each character, but their general playstyle may lean towards a specific role. In Wuthering Waves, every character can fit into three different combat categories:

While some characters may be better than others, you’ll need to work with what you’ve got and synergize rather than just putting the three most overpowered characters in your team. Also some characters will become more powerful as new characters come out that synergize with them. In the past, characters which were believed to be useless have later been used in optimal compositions due to emergent content. For this reason, it is best to invest in characters that you enjoy and then fill in their teams with characters that synergize well with them rather than investing in Flavor of the Month characters which you may not want to use later.

Some characters will also buff or give extra damage to a specific element or skill type, and other characters will prefer buffs to their main damage source skills. For example, Yinlin works well with Calcharo because Calcharo prioritizes Electro and Resonance Liberation damage, and Yinlin buffs both of those.

Use the synergies listed below to find which characters work well with others. Some synergies may not be obvious because specific skill interactions may result in different damage types. For example, Jiyan’s Basic Attacks during his Resonance Liberation are considered Heavy Attack damage.
