Yinlin Character Guide

Wuwa. Wuthering Waves Yinlin Guide Character Build. Sub DPS. Electro DPS. Skill Priority.

Yinlin is a 5-star character that wields a Rectifier and uses Electro as her elemental damage. She can be a Sub DPS or main DPS character that can attack at a medium range.

Pros – Has a smooth playstyle that deals great damage and improves the damage of her entire team in boss and multi-targeting situations.

Cons – She takes some time to reach her damage pay-off, enemies may die before getting full value of the Punishment Mark. Aggressive enemies can punish her and interrupt her longer animation combos if you don’t cancel them.

Team Compositions – Yinlin’s Outro is great when using another DPS that focuses on Electro and Resonance Liberation damage. She handles enemies that are spread out well and allows your other damage dealers with small attack radius to also do more damage in AoE with the Punishment Mark.

Skills and Playstyle

Yinlin manipulates her puppet Zapstring to perform attacks. When Zapstring hits an enemy it will apply Sinner’s Mark to them. You can see this by the purple chains connecting Zapstring to the enemy. This mark has no effect for now.

Basic Attacks – Her chain of four Basic Attacks has a medium range and can hit multiple targets that are adjacent to each other, but it isn’t great for spread out enemies.

Heavy Attack – Spins Zapstring around her, hitting enemies in a wide radius. This is preferable to use over her Basic Attacks only in situations where enemies are more spread out. This can also apply Sinner’s Mark to as many targets as you can hit.

Dodge Counter – After dodging, her next Basic Attack, essentially the Dodge Counter, will resemble the third part of her Basic Attack chain, and the next Basic Attack after her Dodge counter will be the fourth in the chain which hit much harder than the first two in the chain. Prefer to do two Basic Attacks after a Dodge. The Dodge Counter also has a very long evade frame, allowing her to survive boss mechanics while doing damage.

Resonance Skill (E) – Zapstring hits enemies for a decent amount of damage and Yinlin enters Execution Mode for several seconds. While in this mode, Basic Attacks and Dodge Counter will cause a lightning strike to affected targets, with a maximum of four lightning strikes occurring. Afterwards, use the Resonance Skill again to finish the attack before it becomes unavailable for another significant amount of damage and to trigger her Inherent Skill which gives an ATK boost for 4 seconds.

The first and second Resonance Skill and the four lightning strikes in between will all generate a significant amount of Forte gauge, so you should always prioritize using this skill first, and use the second E as soon as you’ve hit the four lightning strikes. The second E attack will cancel the previous animation, so it is ideal to use it right after the third or fourth basic attack lands to remove the long aftercasts.

Forte Circuit – The Forte gauge can be gained by using Basic Attacks and Heavy Attacks depending on how many targets are hit. Use the Heavy Attack to hit targets who are spread out and the Basic Attack to hit targets more gathered together for faster Forte. The four Basic Attacks after using the Resonance Skill are the best way to gain Forte fast.

When at full Forte, Yinlin can use her Heavy Attack to turn the Sinner’s Mark on any enemies into a Punishment Mark. This will last 18 seconds and once per second enemies with the Punishment Mark will suffer an extra Electro strike when they take damage. You can swap to other characters who can still trigger this mark, and all enemies who have the Punishment Mark will take the extra strike if only one takes damage, so focus on hitting at least one target per second to maximize this damage.

Resonance Liberation (R) – Triggers several lightning strikes for a massive amount of damage in a large radius. This also applies Sinner’s Mark which allows for a fast Forte Heavy Attack to get Punishment Mark on multiple targets.

Rotation

  • E > Three or Four Basic Attacks > E > Q
  • E > R > Three or Four Basic Attacks > E > Forte Heavy Attack > Outro

Swap character during the long animation of her Forte Heavy Attack or second cast of E. Use the R during the crit chance buff after her E due to the Inherent Skills giving ATK and Crit Rate.

Outro – Grants the next character 20% more Electro damage and 25% more Resonance Liberation damage for 14 seconds or until they swap off.

Echo Skill 3 (Q) Electro – Lumiscale Construct – Transform into a giant sword and attack for Glacio damage. While in this transform, block the first attack against you which will trigger the sword attack for more damage and sooner. Useful to block damage and cancel animations when using her as a Sub DPS and she won’t use much time on field to get value from the other Echoes.

Echo Skill 4 (Q)Moonlit Clouds – Impermanence Heron – If the attack hits, gain 10 Resonance Energy and the next Outro within 15 seconds will grant the next character 12% more damage for 15 seconds. Useful for a Sub DPS role that swaps less often.

Sequence 5 – Resonance Liberation deals 100% more damage to targets with either Sinner’s or Punishment Mark.

Sequence 6 – After casting Resonance Liberation, for 30 seconds her basic attacks will trigger up to four lightning strikes for 420% of Yinlin’s ATK per strike.

Should you try to pull extra sequences for Yinlin?

The sequences provide high damage buffs. None of the sequences change how she is played much, and even though the sixth sequence has some insane burst it only increases her damage. If you are not pushing the absolute limits of optimal DPS, she will still be a very strong Sub DPS character without any sequences. If you want to compromise on how far you invest, the second sequence may be worth how it will make the rotation smoother.
