Wuthering Waves Aalto Character Guide

WuWa. Wuthering Waves Aalto Guide Character Build. Aero DPS. Sub DPS.

This is a guide to Aalto, a 4-star character that wields Pistols and uses Aero as his elemental damage. He is a DPS that shoots through wind to empower his bullets, but can also work well with another Aero DPS.

Pros – High mobility and ways to distract enemies.

Cons – Damage suffers if you need to move away from your Mists. Dodging through Mist cancels your evade frame.

Team Compositions – Other Aero characters will benefit from his Outro, though he takes a while to get value from his kit so he does not want to be a Sub DPS. He can play the role of a main or secondary DPS if you want one melee and one ranged Aero DPS in the team.

Skills and Playstyle

Resonance Skill (E) – Creates a mist avatar which will shoot Mist Bullets at the target and taunt enemies to attack it, allowing you to stay at range more easily. This also creates Mist which will increase the damage of bullets that pass through it before they hit their target.

Basic Attack – A chain of five attacks which will create Mist on the fourth attack.

Heavy Attack – Holding down the Heavy Attack or Pressing G will lock you in place and allow you to manually aim attacks. This is mainly used to pierce multiple enemies with the charged attack, but otherwise not too useful.

Forte Circuit – One bar of Forte is gained whenever shooting and hitting an enemy with the Basic Attack or Aerial Attack through one of your Mist fields. There are two ways to create a Mist field:

  • Basic Attack 4
  • Resonance Skill

When dashing or dodging through Mist you will become a wisp, move faster, and shoot a Mist Bullet for each bar of Forte you have. Use an attack to end the wisp form early, losing the movement speed but allowing you to continue attacking sooner. Don’t cancel it too early or the bullets never fire.

Aerial Attack – Consumes Stamina and leaves you more vulnerable, but is faster than the Basic Attack at charging your Forte when shooting through Mist. However, this does not create another Mist like the Basic Attack does, so only use this through the Mist created by your Basic Attack right before the Resonance Skill recharges to ensure you always have Mist to shoot through.

Resonance Liberation (R) – Creates a larger wind wall which will deal damage and cause all bullets to deal more damage when they pass through it for 10 seconds. Bullets shot through this wind wall do not generate Forte, but you can dash or dodge through it to trigger the Forte wisp and the Mist Bullets created by the Forte can be improved by passing through the Ultimate’s wind wall.

Rotation

Make sure to position where your bullets pass through Mist. Always dodge or dash through a Mist field when at 5 or 6 Forte. If the Mist will disappear and you’re at 3 or 4, just keep using Basic Attacks until you get more.

  • E > 5 Basic Attacks > Dodge
  • 5 Basic Attacks > Aerial Attacks > Dodge
  • R > E > 5 Basic Attacks > Dodge

Outro – The next character has 23% increased Aero Damage for 14 seconds or until swapping.

Should you try to pull extra sequences for Aalto?

The best sequences are the first, third, and fifth. Going only for one sequence can make his rotation much more fluid and have less down time. The third and fifth just give reliable damage buffs. They aren’t that great, so just going for one sequence may be enough. The first sequence reduces the cooldown of your E, allowing you to use much more Aerial Attack combos instead of Basic Attacks.
