Wuthering Waves Chixia Character Guide

WuWa. Wuthering Waves Chixia Guide Character Build. Fusion DPS.

Chixia is a 4-star character that you get at the start of the story. She wields Pistols and uses Fusion as her elemental damage. She is a purely DPS character but is versatile in gameplay mechanics.

Pros – Long-ranged damage which can make many boss mechanics easier to avoid.

Cons – Lacks AoE damage which makes her struggle in some situations with multiple enemies. Cannot Parry with guns.

Team Compositions – Chixia is a mostly selfish character that can get value out of staying on the field for a while, so she wants supports that increase Resonance Damage or just general Damage buffs. She also needs other characters to Parry or Stagger for her, so using her as a secondary DPS when you want to stay at a safe distance and swapping to your main DPS to parry can also work.

Skills and Playstyle

Basic Attack – Chixia can do decent damage from range using her Basic Attack chain and Dodge Counter which will charge up her Forte gauge. Always try to land the final attack of the chain as it will do significantly more damage and give more bullets for your Forte gauge.

Resonance Skill (E) – Pressing E targets one enemy and fires several bullets at them while granting her 25 “bullets” on her Forte Gauge. Instead of pressing E, but holding down the E key, you won’t gain any bullets but instead expend them to continually fire at the target. If at least 30 bullets are fired, you can follow up with a Basic Attack which will be empowered to become Boom Boom and deal massive damage. Boom Boom is your heaviest hitting attack besides your Resonance Liberation, so the aim is to keep enabling them as often as possible.

Because you have two uses of the Resonance Skill, you can start out by just pressing it to gain 25 bullets quickly. Then you can get the next 5 bullets needed to enable a Boom Boom using Basic Attacks and then hold the E key to start shooting your bullets. After 30 have been used, shown by the indicator that appears on the Forte gauge, or the spark that appears around Chixia as soon as you’ve shot enough, or the subtle “Ding” sound, you should use Boom Boom. Using more than 30 bullets is slightly wasteful because you can trigger more Boom Booms if you conserve the bullets to use later.

Heavy Attack – allows manual aiming by pressing G or holding the Heavy Attack. Press or let go of the button to Fire off the shot when the diamonds form around her pistol, indicating that it is at maximum firepower. While at maximum firepower, her Heavy Attack will deal more damage and will also pierce through targets, allowing you to attack multiple enemies only if they are lined up in a row. This isn’t very powerful and makes you more vulnerable, so it isn’t worth it a majority of the time.

Resonance Liberation (R) – shoots many bullets (not related to Resonance ammo) at all targets around her for massive damage, allowing her to manage multiple enemies or just do big damage to one target. She needs to be moderately closer to enemies to land this attack than her other abilities. Get up closer with your Echo Skill (Q) to increase the damage of your Ultimate.

Skill Priority

Hold down the Resonance Skill key whenever you have at least 30 bullets to get the Boom Boom afterwards, as that is the majority of your damage. If you are under pressure and are low on bullets because you can’t attack often, press the Resonance Skill and instantly let go of it.

  • E (Press) > Basic Attacks
  • E (Hold) > Forte Basic Attack after 30 bullets
  • Q > R

Should you try to pull extra sequences for Chixia?

If you really enjoy Chixia but don’t like fighting multiple targets with her, the second sequence is great for improving this weakness. Otherwise, you’ll need to invest quite a bit to start improving what she’s good at which is her single target damage.

At four sequences it can be nice to recharge your bullets, but at five sequences is when you really get damage boosts. Six sequences is a nice damage boost to her team which allows Chixia to be a Sub DPS if you wanted it, but until this point she is a purely selfish DPS.

If you can’t invest much into her, one sequence will be enough because the guaranteed critical on her hardest hitting attack will feel good every time it lands.
