Wuthering Waves Danjin Character Guide

WuWa. Wuthering Waves Danjin Guide Character Build. Havoc DPS.

Danjin is a 4-star character that wields a Sword and uses Havoc as her elemental damage. She is a risky pure DPS that can get many damage modifiers and never runs out of damage.

Pros – Superior sustained damage. Damage rotation does not suffer much when interrupted by mechanics due to the synergy of her Dodge Counter.

Cons – Difficult to play. Sacrifices health to use her attacks. Requires good dodging/parry timing to survive. Mostly short range skills.

Team Compositions – Danjin needs a lot of support to be able to survive, but with healing or shields from allies she can be very powerful. Works well with other Havoc characters because of her Outro.

Skills and Playstyle

Basic Attack – A three attack chain which does not do much by itself but will determine the rhythm of your Resonance Skill by how many times you use it.

How many times you can use your Resonance Skill in a row is determined by how many Basic Attacks precede it. If you cast one Basic Attack, you can use Resonance 1. If you cast two Basic Attacks, you can use Resonance 1 and then Resonance 2 after. Likewise with three Basic Attacks and Resonance 3.

Resonance Skill 1 (E) – All resonance attacks will give some of the Forte gauge and sacrifice some health to perform them. This first attack is low impact and has no effects so it is generally not used, but you can continue the Basic Attack and Resonance chain if you used the first one. For example:

  • Basic 1 > Resonance 1 > Basic 2 > Basic 3 > Resonance 2 > Resonance 3

This only works for the first Basic Attack. The second Basic Attack will not continue the chain if interrupted, and the third basic attack will not allow the previous Resonance 2 to be used.

Resonance Skill 2 (E>E) – After two Basics, sacrifice more health and gain Forte while also applying a debuff to the target for 12 seconds. Danjin deals 20% more damage to all targets with this debuff. Look for the Flower Icon on them to show that the debuff is still there.

Resonance Skill 3 (E>E>E) – After three Basics, sacrifice more health and gain Forte. Deal a heavy amount of damage through a multi-hitting triple attack chain. Does not apply the damage debuff of Resonance 2.

Dodge Counter – Like most characters, you should perform your Basic Attack after dodging to do a Dodge Counter for a decent bit of damage, but Danjin has an even more powerful Dodge Counter. After successfully dodging and use the Basic Attack key, she does a spin attack which will also evade attacks and enable her to use her Resonance Skill 2. This applies the damage debuff to the targets.

Heavy Attack – Danjin lunges forward to do multiple quick attacks, then steps backwards. Cast at the end of the Resonance Chain for an extra burst.

Forte Circuit – When over the threshold shown by the cursor on the Forte gauge, the Heavy Attack will consume the Forte and become more powerful and regain health. Use a Basic Attack afterwards to lunge back in for a final burst hit. If at full Forte, this will consume all of the resource and deal even more damage as well as provide half of your Concerto bar, but this can be extremely risky to sacrifice that much health without healing.

Resonance Liberation – Hits for heavy damage on many attacks. This has a shorter range than most Ultimates, so you need to be right in front of your target.

Skill Priority

Always upkeep the Resonance 2 debuff on whoever you are attacking, whether it is by enabling it with the 2 Basic Attack chain, an Intro, or a Dodge Counter. Then use the Resonance 3 until you are full on Forte and use the Forte Heavy Attack.

  • 2 Basic > E > E > Q
  • 3 Basic > E > E > E
  • Forte Heavy Attack > Basic Attack
  • 3 Basic > E > E > E
  • R > Outro

Intro – Allows the use of the Resonance 2 immediately after.

Outro Skill – Increases the Havoc Damage of the next character by 23% for 14 seconds or until swapped.

Should you try to pull extra sequences for Danjin?

Yes. They all provide significant damage bonuses and reward you more for performing her risky playstyle correctly. Even the first sequence is good. Although they are still good, the worst sequences may be the third and fourth, so stopping at the second sequence can be good enough.
