Wuthering Waves Jiyan Character Guide

WuWa. Wuthering Waves Jiyan Guide Character Build. Aero DPS.

Jiyan is a 5-star character that wields a Broadblade and uses Aero as his elemental damage. He is a main DPS character with aerial combat maneuvers and very long range melee attacks that are quick which allows him to parry enemies easily.

Pros – During his Ultimate he can Parry bosses easily due to his long range and quick attacks. Very simple to play. High mobility. Plenty of disables against smaller enemies.

Cons – Needs plenty of Energy Regen to enter his Ultimate as soon as possible. Otherwise he feels weak outside of his Ultimate.

Team Compositions – Jiyan is a main DPS that provides most of his value during his Ultimate, so team him with others that can boost his Resonance Energy or give buffs to Heavy Attacks.

Skills and Playstyle

Basic Attacks – These will charge up his Forte, but Jiyan prefers to use Heavy Attacks.

Heavy Attack – Holding briefly and releasing will do a flurry of attacks that deal damage and increase his Forte gauge which has two bars to fill. Holding this longer will cause him to knock the enemy into the air, enabling him to follow up with an Aerial Attack.

Aerial Attack – After jumping into the air, Jiyan’s Aerial Attack will charge diagonally toward the enemy to smash the ground and then allow a Basic Attack to follow for more damage. If Jiyan knocked the enemy into the air using his Heavy Attack, then his Aerial will first knock them to the ground before you can charge at them.

Resonance Skill (E) – Jiyan charges at the enemy dealing damage to any others he passes through. This can also be used while in the air to charge horizontally through the air. Consuming half of his Forte gauge will increase the damage of this skill by 20%. Don’t use this skill if it will prevent you from using your Ultimate with half of his Forte.

Resonance Liberation (R) – If you have at least one bar of Forte, Jiyan will do a massive burst of damage to enemies in front of him. Then, regardless of his Forte, he will become empowered for 10 seconds to improve his resistance to interruption; and his Basic Attacks will have larger range, increased damage, be faster, and pull enemies in. These Basic Attacks will count as Heavy Attacks for the sake of stats and effects. His Resonance Skill will also cost no Forte and always deal the extra damage.

Rotation

  • E > Heavy Attack > Aerial Attack > Basic Attack
  • Q > R when above 30 Forte > E + Basic Attack until Ult ends

Intro Skill – Inherent Skills make his Intro grant 10% more ATK for 15 seconds.

Outro Skill – The next character can use Heavy Attacks to trigger an extra burst from Jiyan’s dragon for the next 8 seconds, this can trigger up to two times.

Should you try to pull extra sequences for Jiyan?

The numbers on Jiyan’s sequences are high, so yes it is worth it. The worst one may be the first sequence, but since it synergizes with many of the others it’s not bad at all. Since his Ultimate considers his Basic Attacks as Heavy Attacks, the fourth sequence is also very good. Get as many as you can afford to.
