Wuthering Waves Lingyang Character Guide

WuWa. Wuthering Waves Lingyang Guide Character Build. Glacio DPS.

Lingyang is a 5-star character that wields Gauntlets and uses Glacio as his elemental damage. He is a DPS with Aerial Attacks.

Pros – Never runs out of damage, has great DPS. Focus on Aerial Attacks can put you out of harm’s way for some attacks that are low to the ground.

Cons – While in the air you can only dodge once, making him more vulnerable to boss attacks during his Aerial combos.

Team Compositions – Supports and Sub DPS that can buff for long durations are best with Lingyang since he wants to be on the field for as long as possible.

Skills and Playstyle

Heavy Attack – Uppercuts into the air and enables an Aerial Attack.

Aerial Attack – Charges toward the ground to deal damage and enable an extra Basic Attack afterwards for even more damage.

Basic Attack – A chain of five attacks that are quick. After using the third attack in the chain, your Resonance Skill will be empowered to deal more damage and give Forte gauge. The fourth and fifth attack will also enable this, meaning you want to use the Resonance three times within your attack chain.

Resonance Skill (E) – Performs a quick punch with no cooldown, but you only want to use this when it is empowered by the 3-5 Basic Attacks to gain Forte and do a forward leap for more damage.

Forte Circuit – When the Forte gauge is full, the Heavy Attack will enter Lingyang into Striding Lion state for 5 seconds. He will stand on stepping stones, allowing every attack to be an Aerial Attack. Keep using the Basic Attack to perform Aerial combos to juggle enemies nonstop for the duration of the state.

While in Striding Lion state, the Resonance Skill will leap through the air toward your target. The animation can be long compared to the Basic Attacks so only use this to close the gap between you and the target or to get behind the target for a different angle of attack.

Resonance Liberation – Deals damage to enemies in front of you, grants a large amount of Forte, and increases Lingyang’s Glacio Damage by 50% for 14 seconds. During this time, if you enter the Striding Lion state it will be increased to a 10 second duration.

Rotation

  • 3 Basic > E > 1 Basic > E > 1 Basic > E
  • Q > R > Forte Heavy > Basic Attacks > Outro after Forte ends

Because his R will grant a large amount of Forte, it is fine to use the Striding Lion Forte by itself if your R is not available. You want to always use the Striding Lion after his Ult though.

Intro – Gives some of the Forte gauge.

Outro – Deals a significant amount of Glacio Damage. The extra 50% damage of the Resonance Liberation lasts 14 seconds while the extended Striding Lion lasts for 10 seconds. This means you want to immediately use Striding Lion after Resonance Liberation, and then use the Outro within the 4 second window where you still have the Glacio damage boost. If you want to keep using Lingyang, then just swap back to him after using his Outro.

Should you try to pull extra sequences for Lingyang?

Most of the sequences from the third and onward provide significant damage boosts, which are great for him because he is a dedicated DPS. The first and second sequence add some more quality of life. If you really must optimize his damage further, then going for the sixth sequence can be worth it. However, just getting the first sequence is also good enough because the anti-interruption will make up for one of Lingyang’s biggest weaknesses which is that while he is performing his combo you are susceptible to attacks and interrupts.
