Wuthering Waves Sanhua Character Guide

WuWa. Wuthering Waves Sanhua Guide Character Build. Sub DPS. Glacio DPS.

Sanhua is a 4-star character that wields a Sword and uses Glacio as her elemental damage. She is a great Sub DPS due to her ability to buff and swap characters quickly without investing much time. However, with some Crit. DMG she can become a main DPS because of how low her cooldowns are.

Pros – Fastest Concerto and Resonance Liberation generation.

Cons – Vulnerable animation locks unless you have the right timings for cancels.

Team Compositions – Works great in quick swapping teams because of her fast Energy and Concerto generation, but also can support another main DPS character well due to the Basic Attack buffs she gives. Prefers to have allies with disables to keep enemies from running out of her Ice Creations before they are detonated.

Skills and Playstyle

Forte Circuit – When performing a Heavy Attack, her Forte gauge will become a mini-game and a cursor will move quickly from side to side. You want to let go of the Heavy Attack when the cursor is within the blue section of the gauge. Successfully timing this will perform a sword slash through your target with a delayed second hit. You can get used to the timing or you can look for a spark of light that will also appear around Sanhua as soon as the cursor enters the blue area. This attack also slows down time, which can make fights more predictable.

Hold down the Heavy Attack during the previous skill animation. It will allow you to charge up the Forte attack early, allowing you to get faster timing on it. You can even cast some other skills, move, or dodge while the cursor is moving and it will not be interrupted.

The blue section of the gauge will become larger after using the fifth part of the Basic Attack chain, and for every Ice Creation that has been created by her other skills. These Ice Creations will also be detonated for extra damage when successfully timing her Heavy Attack.

There are multiple ways to create Ice Creations:

  • Intro Skill
  • Resonance Skill (E)
  • Resonance Liberation (R) (creates 2)

Resonance Skill (E) – Creates Ice after a quick slash to nearby enemies. The beginning of this skill can be used quickly, but the aftercast is long. You can preemptively charge your Heavy Attack into it. Also since the animation slightly raises you into the sky, you can cancel the animation by jumping and follow up with an Aerial Attack and then Heavy. You must be right next to the enemy to hit with this, so you can dodge inwards or use the Heavy Attack to get in range.

Resonance Liberation (R) – Creates two Ice formations and does a large slash to nearby enemies. Hold your Heavy Attack during the cutscene to shatter them as soon as possible.

You can create up to four Ice Creations if you Intro into Resonance skill into the Ultimate and then use the Heavy Attack to create four Ice Bursts, dealing heavy damage and generating a huge amount of Concerto. Alternatively, you can split them into two sets of Detonations because it may be difficult to land all of them uninterrupted or before the target moves out of the Ice.

Rotation

  • Intro > Heavy Attack Detonate > E > Heavy
  • Q > R > Heavy Attack Detonate > Outro

Or if your Resonance Liberation is off cooldown from the start:

  • Intro > E > R > Heavy Attack Detonate > Q > Swap

Ice Creations disappear after several seconds, so your combo needs to be concise and the best way to do this is with Animation Cancelling the Resonance and Heavy Attack as soon as possible.

Intro – Attacks to make an Ice Creation.

Outro – Provides a buff to the next character which allows them to deal 38% more damage on their Basic Attacks for 14 seconds or until switched again.

Should you try to pull extra sequences for Sanhua?

The first three sequences are great for a more active playstyle for Sanhua since they buff her Basic and Heavy attacks. If you want to use her more often because she’s your favorite character, then these first ones aren’t bad to go for.

If you want to use Sanhua purely as a Sub DPS, you won’t get much value until you get to the fourth sequence where she will get more synergy for her burst playstyle. The fifth sequence can be convenient for the automatic Ice Creation detonation, but due to enemies moving around a lot the timing may be off and this may not be as good as it sounds. However, the Crit DMG buff still makes the fifth sequence good. The final sixth sequence is an amazing buff for herself and her allies, making this a big pick up for a Sub DPS or DPS playstyle.

In other words, if you want to use Sanhua as a Sub DPS, it’s not really worth it to invest unless you get to at least the fourth sequence, at which point you will want to go further to get to the sixth. But if you want to use Sanhua as a main DPS, she might feel unrewarding or clunky unless you at least get to the third sequence. Sanhua will perform just fine without any sequences, so she is worth using even if you don’t want to invest much into her.
