WuWa. Wuthering Waves Taoqi Guide Character Build. Havoc Sub DPS/Tank.

Taoqi is a 4-star character that wields a Broadblade and uses Havoc as her elemental damage. She is a survivable Sub DPS with defensive buffs and Parry mechanics which allow her to be a Tank.

Pros – Extremely safe and easy to play. Great for solo.

Cons – Has very slow animations and takes a while for her skills to get their full effect.

Team Compositions – Taoqi Is a great Sub DPS for a main DPS that gets most of their damage from their Resonance Skill due to Taoqi’s Outro buffing Resonance Skill damage by 38%. Can be used as a tank/support to survive boss mechanics before swapping to another DPS character when it is safe to do so.

Skills and Playstyle

Many of Taoqi’s abilities will scale with the DEF stat, making her do more damage as she becomes extremely tanky. Along with other damage reductions available to her, she can take on most dangerous situations and survive.

Basic Attack – Slow chain of four attacks that deal decent damage.

Resonance Skill (E) – Deals damage to nearby enemies, heals you, and creates a Rocksteady Shield which reduces the damage of the next 3 attacks that hit you by 15% and granting one bar of Forte per hit. There are 3 shards rotating around you representing the Rocksteady Shield. Use this early on or save it to provide to your other characters when swapping.

If you are attacked during the short animation of raising her hand, she will perform a Strategic Parry to damage enemies. This does not function as a Parry and will not block the damage, it will only reduce the damage and return some damage back. When Rock Steady Shield is active, the fourth part of the Basic Attack chain will consume the remaining shields and gain one bar of Forte for each.

Heavy Attack – Holding down the Heavy Attack will stop you in place but enter a Rocksteady Defense, reducing all damage taken by 35%. If attacked within 3 seconds or automatically after 3 seconds, you will perform a Strategic Parry to deal damage. Become more resistant to stagger as well.

Forte Circuit – When at three bars of Forte, the Heavy Attack or Intro skill will enter Taoqi into a state where she can use Basic Attacks to consume the bars of Forte. Each of the three Basic Attacks will deal extra damage and grant an extra health shield.

Resonance Liberation – Swing a massive singular hit at enemies in a wide range in front of you.

Intro Skill – Will enable her Forte Circuit to be used on her Basic Attacks if she has three bars of Forte when entering.

Outro Skill – Increases the Resonance Skill damage of the next character by 38% for 14 seconds or until that character switches.

Dauntless Evernight (Port City Guixu Loot 4-star) – DEF – Increases ATK by 8% and DEF by 15% for 15 seconds on Intro
Discord (Convene 4-star) – Energy Regen – Restores 8 Concerto when using Resonance Skill once every 20 seconds.
Autumntrace (Podcast 4-star) – Crit Rate – Increases ATK by 4% for 7 seconds whenever dealing Basic or Heavy Attack damage, stacking up to 5 times.

Echo Skill 1 (Q) – Havoc – Crownless – Increases Havoc damage by 12% for 15 seconds after a series of attacks. Use for a main character playstyle.

Echo Skill 2 (Q) – Moonlit Clouds – Impermanence Heron – Gives the next character 12% more damage for 15 seconds on Outro and recovers 10 Resonance Energy if it hits. Use for a Sub DPS playstyle.

Echo Skill 3 (Q) – Moonlit Clouds – Belle-Borne Geochelone – Reduces the damage of the next three hits taken by 50% and grants 10% damage to whoever is the active character while this buff persists. Can stack with Rocksteady Defense for even more durability.

Inherent Skill 1 – While the Rocksteady Shield from her Resonance Skill is active, gain 15% DEF.

Inherent Skill 2 – After the Heavy Attack Strategic Parry successfully triggers, restore 25 Stamina.

Sequence 2 – Crit Rate and Crit Damage of Resonance Liberation increased by 20%.

Sequence 3 – Resonance Skill’s Rocksteady Shield now lasts 30 seconds.

Sequence 4 – After successfully Parrying with the Heavy Attack, restore 25% HP and increase DEF by 50% for 5 seconds once every 15 seconds.

Sequence 5 – Forte Circuit damage is increased by 50% and restores 20 Resonance Energy if it hits an enemy.

Sequence 6 – Taoqi’s Basic and Heavy Attack increased by 40% while the Resonance Skill Rocksteady Shield lasts.

Should you try to pull extra sequences for Taoqi?

The first three sequences don’t provide too much, but as soon as you get to the fourth each one provides a significant amount of damage increase. These can make up for her rather defensive and slow playstyle by rewarding you with much more damage modifiers. This is a steep investment to lean further into her DPS side, but without any sequences she is still fine as Sub DPS or even great as a survivable solo character.
