Wuthering Waves Yangyang Character Guide

WuWa. Wuthering Waves Yangyang Guide Character Build. Aero Sub DPS.

Yangyang is a 4-star character available for free from the beginning of the game. She wields a Sword and uses Aero as her elemental damage. She is a mobile Sub DPS character with many wind effects to group enemies together.

Pros – Has some of the best disables for groups of enemies.

Cons – Lacks damage as a DPS and does not provide too many buffs to allies so she falls behind for bosses that aren’t affected by her wind.

Team Compositions – Yangyang is a great Sub DPS in quick swap comps that often want to do combos. She can pull enemies together easily for another character that has heavy AoE damage potential, or she can use her Outro that gives Resonance Energy to another character that has a high impact Ultimate.

Skills and Playstyle

Yangyang’s kit uses dashes and plunge attacks often to manage her Forte mechanic.

Resonance Skill (E) – Creates wind that deals Aero damage and slightly staggers enemies. Use whenever off cooldown to disable enemies and gain Forte.

Basic Attack – Basic Attacks are not too valuable as the chain can take a while, but it will give one Forte bar.

Heavy Attack – Dashes through the target and allows the Basic Attack after that to give you one bar of Forte. You must do both to get it. This is the fastest way to get your Forte stacks because it is quick and has no cooldown.

Forte Circuit – Her Forte gauge has three bars. You gain one bar at a time from various sources.

  • Resonance Skill
  • Heavy Attack + Basic Attack Combo
  • Fourth attack in the Basic Attack chain

Once she has three bars of Forte, her Heavy Attack will add an upward motion after the dash, bringing lesser enemies into the air with her. From here you can use Left Mouse Button to do an Aerial Attack which will consume all bars of Forte and perform a massive wind attack towards the ground, consuming the Forte and dealing even more damage.

Resonance Liberation (R) – Creates an even larger wind field than her Resonance Skill and pulls enemies into the center more aggressively while dealing damage.

Rotation

  • Intro > Aerial Attack > Heavy > Basic
  • E > Heavy > Basic
  • Forte Heavy Attack > Aerial Attack
  • Q > R > Outro

If you aren’t saving your R to CC for your next character, use it at the start of your rotation to ensure that you get as much of it off as soon as possible.

Intro – Sends the enemy into the air, allowing you to follow up with an Aerial Attack

Outro – Gives 20 Resonance Energy over 5 seconds to the next character.

Should you try to pull extra sequences for Yangyang?

Only if you really like Yangyang. The first three sequences don’t change much, and the last three are only damage modifiers. Those damage modifiers are pretty good, but she still fits more of a Sub DPS because of how her skills work, so only the third and sixth sequence are really worth which can be a steep investment.
