Greatsword Variant
The Power Mirage is a bursty and mobile mesmer build for WvW Roaming. It can lock down single targets with the Sword but also can deal massive AoE damage from range with the Greatsword, allowing it to take on small and larger scale fights.
Mirage Cloak allows the use of Ambush abilities (1 skill on each weapon), and dodging, using Distortion, collecting the Mirage Mirrors you create when shattering Distortion, and some utility skills will grant Mirage Cloak. The Sword Ambush (1) can be used to leap multiple times in a row or to daze targets which will trigger Power Block to further debilitate enemies. Greatsword’s Ambush creates multiple beams that apply Vulnerability and grant you Might, and these beams can overlap to hit the same target multiple times for high scaling damage.
Dodging creates a clone due to the Deceptive Evasion trait, and the Infinite Horzion trait will also command your clones to perform these ambushes when you dodge, allowing for even more dazes from sword or even more vulnerability from greatsword.
Your skill rotation revolves around this sequence:
Create Clones > Dodge > Ambush > Shatter Clones > Repeat
There is much more clone generation on sword since the ambush creates an extra clone, so be sure to shatter (F1-4) more often when wielding it, but greatsword gets more value out of not shattering and letting the greatsword clones continually use their ambushes.
Distortion (F4) also improves this capability because of the Desert Distortion trait which gives you the ability to ambush while Distorted, and creates Mirrage Mirrors which you can pick up to gain Mirage Cloak. In this way, Distortion is one of your highest impact skills because it allows you to go immune while also enabling your most powerful skills. Try to get the most value as possible by shattering Distortion with many clones. Signet of Illusions can also be used to recharge Distortion.
Also remember that swapping weapons and using the heal skill will grant endurance to dodge more due to the Energy Sigil and Adventurer Relic. Try to swap or heal when below half endurance to not waste this.
Basic Skill Combos
Sword Burst
- Torch 5 > Sword 3 > 3 > Dodge > Ambush (1) > 2 + F1
Greatsword Burst
- Greatsword 4 > 2 > Dodge > Ambush (1) > 3 > Dodge > Ambush > F1
These initial combos can be made much more elaborate with the use of Distortion because picking up the extra Mirage Mirrors can allow much more value from Ambushes. Note that dodging creates clones, but Distortion or Mirage Mirrors do not create clones, they will only make existing clones ambush. This makes order matter when using Distortion.
Extended Sword Burst
- Sword 3 > 3 > Dodge > Ambush > 2 > Torch 5 + Distortion (F4)
- Ambush > Pick up Mirror > Ambush > F3
- Dodge > Ambush > Sword 3 > 3 > 2 + F1
Extended Greatsword Burst
- Greatsword 4 > 2 > Dodge > Ambush (1) > 3 > Dodge > Ambush
- Dodge > Ambush > Signet of Illusions + Distortion > Ambush
- Greatsword 2 > Pick up Mirror > Ambush > Dodge > Ambush
- Heal Skill + F3 > Dodge > Ambush > Pick up Mirror > Ambush > 3 + F1
Positioning and timing are important for survival. You can’t Ambush too quickly in succession so you need to get used to the rhythm of Dodge > Ambush > (some other skill) > Dodge > Ambush. Also use the Torch 4 and detargeting your Sword Ambush leap to reposition to a safer location while you have no cooldowns.

Dagger Variant
The Dagger variant focuses more on disruption from the ambush skills that daze which can trigger many traits, most importantly Power Block which will increase the cooldown of skills interrupted and deal damage and apply weakness.
Sword Ambush is a leap that dazes, and Dagger ambush is a ranged daze, and these all can be multiplied by the Infinite Horizon trait, making all of your clones also daze which can apply your interrupt traits. Illusionary Ambush can further this by giving you more ambushes and more time before your enemies are able to find which mesmer clone is the real one, giving you more time to pressure them. This allows you to lock down your target so long as you are able to constantly summon clones and dodge to ambush. Otherwise, this build lacks sustain and requires you to use mobility from the Sword ambush to reposition or the Blink with Mimic for double teleports.

What are your thoughts on Absorption in place of Cleansing on the Sword/Pistol set?
Sure is a good alternative if you can handle having less cleanse.
Would this build work with celestial stats? Or do you lose too much burst?
you wouldnt, but you can use celestial with staff builds
