GW2. WvW Build. Celestial Virtuoso Roaming Build. Virtuoso. Mesmer World vs World.
Last Update: January 2024
The Celestial Virtuoso is a mesmer WvW roaming build with great sustained pressure and survivability mostly due to its ability to interact from far away. However, its mobility and burst is very limited compared to other mesmer builds.
It gains its sustain through healing by stocking blades and using bladesong shatters. Clones turn into blades that you can use to shatter. You gain blades by evading or blocking attacks, so even though the Axe/Shield set might be low on damage, the blocks can help you to shatter for more powerful attacks. When you shatter you gain aegis which also gives you more blades to shatter. The Staff 2 is also useful for positioning as it can leap away from your target.
Axe 3 applies more confusion the more blades you have, meaning you should use it at the beginning of your burst before you shatter. It also evades and teleports you to your target, so this works great as an opener.
Basic Combo: Shield 4 > Dodge > Shield 5 > Axe 3 > 2 > F2
Use Staff to keep distance in between your bursts and with excess blades you can add even more damage with the F1 or the F4 Distortion when you need defense. The F5 is an instant cast which creates pulsing blades around you, and like all shatters gives you aegis, so it can be used while stomping an enemy or some other animation to block any CC that may interrupt you.

Thanks for this build! Curious as to your thoughts on running Signet of Humility over Mass Invisibility since the update on March 29th?
Yes moa is a very good alternative, it’s up to you, I prefer Mass Invi to escape and survive mostly.
Thanks! This is probably just my inexperience with the build and celestial builds in general, but do you have any issues clearing camps efficiently? I’m only using exotic gear, so no infusions what might be part of the issue, too.
I find using sword off hand instead of staff better. Gives you more block, extra dps with sword 5, and using Malicious Sorcery in Illusions tree gives you more blades with faster auto attack equating in more healing and more dps.
Would Anti-Toxin runes be worth a shot for a bit more condi cleanse? Also, ty for the guides, they’ve been really useful.
Not really, I originally thought the cleanse was low so I started with mantra but after playing it longer (and you can see in the most recent video) just having double cleansing sigil and the Restorative Illusions trait is more than enough.
Viable to run a Greatsword with this? I know it’s not a Condi weapon, and an a longtime Mesmer player, but really want to craft something similar to utilize the Sunrise I farmed for.
Maybe a GS – Sword / Torch variant?
then run the power virtuoso and use a greatsword, why force a greatsword onto a condi build
Ended up basically on that actually! Except swapped Dueling out for Inspiration. And hey, thanks for all the content online you add to this game! Love your videos.
Or Illusions for Inspiration, sorry.
It seems like Psychic Riposte is a bit dodgy in stacking blades consistent, pun.. And having to place Blade Renewal in your utility slot, seems like wasted utility space overlap.. Maybe go Infinite forge for stacking blades, and use that utility slot for something more versatile.. I can also imagine running short in damage with the Staff and since stealth is not your main prior, maybe switch Mass Invisibility for something like Thousand Cuts – Great combination with Sword of Decimation, if you can leave the Blade renewal behind, could be a versatile option.. Just adding info, cheers..
Thoughts on Blurred inscriptions instead of Illusionary Inspiration? (Tried both and not sure what i enjoy the most so just hoping for another point of view)
For celestial I prefer Illusionary Inspiration because you actually have healing power, you already have too many defenses and celestial is tanky enough.
Just came back to the game and decided to give Mesmer a try – I really enjoy this build but I find the dmg output is not there at all. I just outlive other stuff until I make a mistake. Am I doing something wrong or can this build just not put up numbers and there to be a distraction in small scale?
The nature of the build is very defensive, you can try with Axe or go to the Power Virtuoso build instead
