GW2. WvW Build. Power Combo Untamed Roaming Build. Power Untamed WvW. Ranger World vs World.
Last Update: October 2024
Maces Variant
The Power Untamed is a ranger build for WvW roaming with high burst and lock down, but can be susceptible to focus. It can combine manual control of the pet’s positioning through ports/pet swapping with CC to land massive burst damage alongside the pet.
Ambush skills will be available on your 1 skill for each weapon when unleashing yourself, but also due to the Let Loose trait they will become available after swapping weapon, so prioritize using these after swapping weapons. Since the Mace Ambush skill is a ranged immobilize, it can be a combo enabler.
Basic Combos:
- Unleash Ranger > Mace Ambush > 3 > 4 > 5 > 2
- Unleash Ranger > Warhorn 4 > Sword Ambush > 3 > 2
Stealth: Smokescale F2 > Unleash Pet > F2 > Warhorn 5 > Sword 2/3
When you fit these basic combos into a rotation they can look more like this:
Opener:
- Warhorn 5/4 > F3 > Unleash Smokescale > F1/F2/F3 > Pet Swap > Unleash Ranger
- Sword Ambush > F2 > 3 > F3 > 2 > Swap
- Mace Ambush > 3 > 4 > 5 > 2 > (Repeat if reset)

Gameplay
Longbow Variant
With Marksmanship, the Ambush skills can deal massive damage when empowered by the Remorseless trait which increases your and your pet’s next attack’s damage by 25% and makes it 100% critical chance after gaining Fury. Prefer to use this on hard hitting single attacks like the Greatsword 2 or the Longbow Ambush to get the most value out of it. Fury is gained when swapping pets, or landing any CC. This means you should generally use CC skills, and if these land follow up with your heavy hitting abilities.
Ambush skills will be available on your 1 skill for each weapon when unleashing yourself, but also due to the Let Loose trait they will become available after swapping weapon, so prioritize using these after swapping weapons and gaining Fury. Since the Longbow Ambush skill hits hard, you can use the Longbow 4 knockback as a disable that triggers the fury for your Remorseless and then cast the Ambush.
Basic Combos:
- Unleash Ranger > Longbow 4 > Ambush > 2
- Unleash Ranger > Unnatural Traversal > Greatsword 5 > Pet Swap > GS 2 > F3 > GS Ambush
Stealth: Smokescale F2 > Unleash Pet > F2 > Greatsword 3
When you fit these basic combos into a rotation they can look more like this:
Opener 1:
- Unleashed Smokescale > F1/F2/F3 > Unleash Ranger > F3 > F1
- Unnatural Traversal > Greatsword 5 > Swap Pet > GS 2 > Drake F3 > GS Ambush
Opener 2:
- Unleashed Smokescale > F1/F2/F3 > Unleash Ranger
- Longbow 4 > Ambush > F3 > F1 > LB 2 > 3 > Swap Weapon
- Greatsword 3 > Swap Pet > GS Ambush > Swap Pet > GS 2 > Drake F3

Updated Gameplay:
I’ve played both versions and both are really fun to play and more resilient that what I though tbh…. (It’s a high risk high reward build…. But when you make it work is really rewarding!)
However I still struggle to consistently do the double hammer 5 leap, is there any trick or tip to do it or just practice timing because at this point I’ve tried and sometimes happen and sometimes not and would be handy to know if I’m missing something
Thanks!!!!
you need to press unleash and the hammer 5 before the first hammer 5 animation finishes
Thank you!! 🙂
Great content (both of you) by the way ! 😉
Is hammer mace mace viable with this build ?
A new build with maces coming soon, but no hammer.
