GW2. WvW Build. Power Reaper WvW Roaming Build. Necromancer WvW. Small Scale WvW Build.
Role: Assassin
Preferred Group Size: 1-25
The Power Reaper is a heavy damage necromancer WvW roaming build due to the high critical damage and quickness while in Reaper Shroud. Because the Reaper Shroud requires melee range, your survival depends on your ability to kite and generate life force in between your engagements.
There are many weapon options for reaper, and your choice depends on what situations you are in, but in general you want at least one ranged weapon like Sword main hand, Axe, or Staff to be able to generate life force and to pressure enemy cooldowns before you go into melee range with Shroud.
While in Shroud you do damage with your 1 and 4 skills when in melee, but enemies will often try to disengage from you or CC you to waste your time during your burst. Save your Shroud 2 for after they dodge or use a mobility skill to stick on your target. If you use it too early and they create distance afterward, you will be stuck out of melee range and your Shroud will be wasted, and you will be forced to leave it early which can be dangerous.
Basic Skill Rotation
- Ranged Weapon Set > Swap Weapon > Melee or other Weapon Set > Enter Shroud
Shroud Rotation
- 2 > 3 > 3 > 4 > 5 > 111 > 2
After leaving Shroud, repeat the skill rotation by using all the weapon skill before swapping to the next one then entering Shroud again.
Constantly cast “Your Soul Is Mine!” to generate Life Force even when out of combat. You can save Spectral Armor for a stun break, but because your Shroud is your main damage source, you can use Spectral Armor before you enter Shroud to tank a lot of damage and gain shroud while in Shroud, allowing you to stay in longer.

Weapon Alternatives
- Many weapons are viable: The default setup can be replaced by any of the following, just make sure to have at least one defensive/mobility weapon to use with your Energy/Cleansing sigil and to kite with in between your Shroud bursts. Use them in the following manner:
- Spear:
- Spear 4 > 3+ 4 > 2 > 5
- Staff:
- 2 > 3 > 4 > 5
- Dagger/Warhorn:
- 3 > 2 > 4 > 111
- Axe/Focus:
- 5 > 2 > 4 > 3
- Sword/Sword:
- 5 > 4 > 2 > 5 > 4
- Spear:
Example Weapon Combo Choices
- Defensive – Staff – Axe/Warhorn – Use when outnumbered to keep a safe distance most of the time
- Assassin – Sword/Sword – Axe/Focus – Mobile but bursty to play for kills and survive focus
- Bruiser – Spear – Greatsword – Stick to targets but has low disengage
- Group DPS – Greatsword – Axe/Focus – Pulls and Spinal Shivers for the most target focus potential
Greatsword | Heal / Utility / Elite |
Sword / Focus | Shroud Skills |
Alternatives
- Utility: for weapon combos with many melee options
- Utility: for weapon combos with many ranged options
- Elite: for more ranged sustained damage potential (use 5 near enemies, 3 to fear and spam 1 and 2 while facing the target).
Alternatives
- Curses can replace Blood Magic for more boon removal and weakness at the cost of self sustain. Better in group situations or against boon heavy targets. Also you can use more Dragon stats on your trinkets since you will have more reliable fury.

I wanted a toughness equal to the condition core build, would it work, marauder armor and knight trinkets and weapons? or doesn’t all this toughness make sense?
It doesn’t make sense, you want vitality on Reaper to stay longer on shroud
Is there an alernate rune you would suggest
Herald Rune of Divinity Rune but Durability is just so good
Vampirism or Durability, or Fireworks
Are there cheaper alternatives to Marauder?
Mix of Berserkers and Valkyrie
Hi Jen 🙂 is this build still viable?
Also would Rune of the Centaur also be an option for this if you don’t mind a lower health pull?
You always want vitality on necro because scales shroud, so if you can’t get Speed Runes go Vampirism.
And about if the build is viable I just updated it and added a new variant as well, I suggest you to watch this video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=C9legAvkU3k
Thankyou for your reply! I have just seen the video, good to hear its still viable.
I been playing pvp for about 9 months on blood reaper and im very new to wvw. 🙂
For now went with your build using speed runes and a mix of marauder and some berserkers 🙂 will see how that goes.
Have an amazing day! <3
Thanks Jen, me and some buddies are starting a havoc group and this build looks like it’ll be perfect <3
Hi, I want to run the Death Magic variant but am confused regarding sigils. You say Sigil of Earth is needed, exactly which sigils are you replacing from your basic setup? Also, do you recommend Rune of Centaur or Rune og Speed)
Sorry for the confusion I will edit to make it clear now. For Death Magic use Axe and Warhorn with Earth/Hydromancy and Staff with Energy/Cleansing
Hi Jen , may this build be used with celestial gear or it will loose all potential ? ty
For cele check this one: https://guildjen.com/celestial-reaper-roaming-build/
Awesome. Love to play this. Thank you.
Hi Jen
Can use Spear instead Greatsword work for this build? because i really like spear 2 4 4 2 burst
yes spear works as long as you have some form of disengage weapon in the other set
Thanks for anwser Vallun so what is secondery weapon set do you recomend for Spear
Hello, can I ask for your opinion on Curses vs Blood? I recently came back after some years so a bit behind on the changes haha
Please clarify on what you mean by “After leaving Shroud, repeat the skill rotation but in the opposite direction.””
Thank you so much
“Skill Rotation:
Focus 5 > 4 > Sword 2 > 3 > Swap
Greatsword 4 > 5 > 3 > Enter Shroud
Shroud Rotation
2 > 3 > 3 > 4 > 5 > 111 > 2
After leaving Shroud, repeat the skill rotation but in the opposite direction.”
I did edit to clarify, the opposite means that after leaving Shroud you do the skill rotation listed above but starting with Greatsword, then Focus, then Shroud.
