GW2. Explosives Scrapper Roaming Build.
Overview
The Explosives Scrapper supports its allies with gyros and superspeed while doing massive damage with the grenade kit combined with the vision sigil. Because you can activate the vision sigil on an instant cast by entering the grenade kit, you can easily precast a big combo into it, allowing all of the hits to be critical. Instead of having really good condition cleanse or vitality, this build gets its sustain from barrier which scales up the more enemies you hit and CC.
Synergy
The more damage you deal the more barrier you get. Always dish out grenades for the pressure and barrier. Super speed allows you to avoid damage with positioning despite being low on evades.
Playstyle
Land Thunderclap from afar then swap into grenade kit for the vision sigil and use Grenade Barrage or Shrapnel Grenade until you get into melee range where you can use Electro-Whirl on the hammer. Back off when hammer skills are on cooldown and kite with grenades. Use Function Gyro not only as a stomping or reviving tool but also as an easy way to trigger Explosive Entrance with little animation when not needed for its downed state function.
Setup your Ground Targeting option as “Instant” as well as enabling “Skill Retargeting” and practice aiming with your Grenade Kit while moving for better accuracy. This improves your damage output while under pressure or kiting drastically.

I did roam a bit as scraper and holo before this, but this build is one step above my homebrews. Comiting fully to the damage to barrier conversion feels great and the vision sigil grenade barrage combo hits hard. Loving it.
Who can counter this?
Thief mostly, and just spike damage pressuring them
I set this guy up last night and tried him out on some eels, scarabs and sand lions in the Desert all to excellent results. Took him to WvW this morning and guess what? No hammer skills. All greyed out. Got grenade kit but no hammer. And suggestions or comments on what I’m doing wrong?
Check if you have the proper build set in WvW as well, the game might be setting a different build template for you once you enter WvW and then it will remember your choice for next time.
Not to sound like a complete noob idiot but how does one do this?
