GW2. WvW Build. Power Bladesworn WvW Roaming Build. Warrior WvW. Small Scale WvW Build.
Role: Bruiser
The Power Bladesworn is a versatile build for WvW roaming due to its mobility, reflects, and ranged damage, but it can be tricky to control because of its susceptibility to CC and slower animations, making positioning key to survival.
Due to the Shield trait in Defense, you will reflect projectiles when blocking including the Aegis boon, and despite Aegis only blocking 1 attack, if it reflects an attack it doesn’t remove Aegis. This synergizes very well with the Aegis application from Dragon Trigger 4 and Gunblade 4 to allow you to survive projectiles as long as you can apply your Aegis at the right time.
Reposition using the Sword 2 and maintain your Fury uptime by using the Gunblade 5 skill often. Use your Gunblade skills to bait dodges and cooldowns out of your enemy so you can land Bull’s Charge or Mace 5 to set up your big damage combos which deal more damage to disabled enemies. The Mace 4 grants extra vulnerability and might to stunned enemies and will be recharged if the Mace 5 lands.
Burst Combo
- (F2) Dragon Slash Boost (2)
- Gunblade 4 > 2 > 3 > F1
- Bull’s Charge > Mace 4 > 5 > 4 > Sword 3
If you don’t want to travel towards your target with Dragon Slash Boost (2), the Reach (3) can also be useful although it would do less damage because it can still trigger your Adrenal Health and other traits that trigger on Dragon Slash to give you more sustain and damage over time. However, you can use the Blink (5) in Dragon Trigger to help you mind game and reposition your Dragon Slash to land the Force (1) which would do even more damage, but this is much harder to do.
While waiting for your next combo, keep dodging, using the Heal skill, and Gunblade 5 to maintain boon uptimes. Use Tactical Reload when you can get value out of recharging most of your cooldowns, but don’t wait too long to use it since it has a relatively low cooldown. You gain barrier when using the final charge of an ammo/count recharge skill, so don’t hesitate to use your cooldowns liberally as you will gain Alacrity on dodge to recharge them back sooner.

does the sigil from the secondary weapon set (shield: sigil of perception in this case) proc for bladesworn builds?
it only triggers more stacks when it is on, but you can maintain stacks if you swap weapons out of combat, essentially meaning you can stay on the stack weapon until its charged, then swap to the other and keep the stacks so long as you dont swap weapons and dont go underwater (unless your underwater weapon has bloodlust)
thank you for answering! my last question would be which sigil would you recommend more, bloodlust vs perception?
Thanks for the great guide Vallun! Would you still use Tactical Reload after the October patch?
either that or the warbanner depending on if you like large fights or not
the beast is back!!!
Is Durability fairly required or can I use something like Scholar for more burst?
You will be too squishy and you will die a lot, the rune sustain is necessary, otherwise you can change other gear pieces for extra defensive stats
I like this build but still viable with the recent nerf ? No more stun, and 0.5 sec to cast on Dragon Slash.
Wish I new this before making a warrior alt. just read about the nerf and it doesn’t make sense. whilst they keep buffing the plague of wvw, harbingers…
What do you think about rune of the defender, with Discipline 2-3-3?
Just made a Bladeswordn alt and it’s actually fun.
discipline is very redundant it has some nice things here and there, but its by far inferior to strength for bladesworn especially since you don’t even get any value for a secondary sigil for discipline.
peak performance + berkser’s power alone are a 30% damage increase that’s an insane amount of burst potential you’re losing out especially when you are insanely tanky with with unshakable mountain+defense.
