GW2. Best Open World Build. Power Dragonhunter Open World. Guardian PvE.
Last Update: September 2024
The Power Dragonhunter Open World is a fragile but extremely high damage guardian build with options for ranged damage with the Longbow and Traps to protect it while using the Greatsword in melee.
Believe it or not, the most important skill to this build is the Healing skill, Litany of Wrath. This is because of the traits which give Resolution and Fury when using this skill. Both of these boons are important to the build because they improve your damage, and this skill gets you those boons the fastest so you can continue your damage combos. The combined critical chance from these boons allows you to run the Dragon stats and still have very high critical chance, a good amount of health, and extremely high critical damage modifiers.
You should always start with Litany of Wrath for the damage modifier boons, but also right after use the Spear of Justice F1 to tether enemies, which will add even more damage modifiers due to Big Game Hunter and Zealot’s Aggression. Avoid casting the F1 pull if you want to keep the damage modifiers going on, but you can use the pull on the spear to combo with Test of Faith for more burst damage as well.
Be aware that your healing skill heals you per damage dealt, so you can use while taking heavy pressure to keep attacking back, but if you kite while the healing buff is up you don’t heal. It’s best to use this while your damage cooldowns are ready.
The elite skill will refresh your F1 F2 F3 skills while making you invulnerable for emergency situations and allowing you to use the F2 and F3 to get out of the dangerous situation.
Basic Longbow Burst:
- Litany of Wrath > F1 > Longbow 5 > 4 > 2
Basic Greatsword Combo:
- F1 > Greatsword 3 > 5 > Litany of Wrath > Procession of Blades > Greatsword 4 > 5 (Pull) > 2

hi, Doesn’t that armor for the berserker’s dh leave him with little life?
It would not be better as a marauder or something that gave more vitality.
You have plenty of other tools to mitigate damage like blocks so its not really that squishy. If you want more vitality take more pieces of Valkyrie, because with more Marauder you will overcap the critical chance.
Regarding “Stats: Mix with Berserker/Marauder/Valkyrie aim to 35% critical chance base if you can’t get Dragons” -> I can’t follow the math here, shouldn’t it be 40% crit chance from gear? My calculations say 25 % from Fury, 25 % from Resolutions+Righteous Instincts and 10 % on burning foes.
Yes if you want to optimize you need 40%, but as it is now, with full dragons you have 35% base. I don’t think that 5% is that much valuable to make the stats combinations more complicated, especially for open world. But yes if you want to optimize go for 40%.
