Role: Assassin
The Power Specter is a thief WvW Roaming build with the poke and burst potential of the Sword/Dagger set, and the sustain of the Spear. Because it has wells, it no longer requires Shortbow to kite in between cooldowns and instead can do combos between the two melee weapon sets because of the increased sustain of shadow shroud.
Sword 2 is the most important skill to use for engaging on enemies and disengaging when you run out of momentum. There are a few combos you can perform with the sword such as the basic Dagger 5 and Sneak Attack which is great for baiting enemy cooldowns for little investment due to the fast CC it provides.
Sword Combos
- Sword 2 > Dagger 5 > Sneak Attack (1)
Try to time the detonation of your Shroud 5 with your port engages to stun enemies into your combos.
- Sword 2 > Dagger 5 > Sneak Attack (1) > Enter Shroud > 2 > 4 > 3 > 5 > Exit Shroud
- Sword 2 (Return and wait for the circle to grow) > Sword 2 > 5 > 1
Combining Wells with Sword 2 allows you to extend their range but also to place Wells directly on your target. This is great for easily landing your Shadowfall to CC enemies into bigger combos but requires a bit of timing (need to press sword 2 at different times in each Well animation).
- Sword 2 + Shadowfall > Enter Shroud > 2 > 4 > Exit Shroud > Dagger 5 > 1
Spear also provides some sustain and versatility through lifesteal, boon removal, ranged capability, and blocks. Notably, the Spear 2’s third chain deals extra damage to disabled enemies including daze and stun. Combining this with the tons of CC this build has can allow great burst combos with it. Prefer to use the Spear 3 for the first two parts of the chain for the lifesteal and mobility.
Spear Combos
- Spear 3 > 3 > F1 > Signet of Infiltration + 2 > 5
- Shroud 5 > Exit Shroud > Spear 3 > 3 > (wait for Shroud 5 circle) > Spear 2 > 5
- Spear 3 > 3 > Shadowfall > 2 > 3 > 3 > 2 > 5
After using the third chain of either the Spear 2 or 3, your Spear 5 will now block three attacks instead of one and heals per attack blocked. Try to weave this in between your combos to avoid counter pressure.
