The Celestial Engineer is an Open World build with multiple kits to have many different skills available at any time such as low cooldown condition application, blinds, CC, and healing combos. While the engineer is susceptible to CC and a bit slow, the Flamethrower Kit has a stun break tied to the 5 skill, and the Rocket Boots can be used for mobility.
Most of your damage will come from conditions, specifically burning. You can get damage from many sources, but it can be difficult to know which cooldowns are up due to the skills being hidden behind the kit swapping mechanic. Internalizing the cooldown timers can help, but there are also a few skills that you can know will reliably be off cooldown when you enter each kit because lower cooldown skills are always on the left side of your skill bar (usually the 2 skill). This includes the Pistol 2, Bomb Kit 2, Flamethrower 2, and Mortar 2. Other high priority damaging skills that are higher cooldowns include the Flamethrower 4, Bomb Kit 3, and Pistol 4. You can expect to rotate through your weapon and kits twice every time you use the higher cooldown skills and once for the lower ones.
Basic Skill Priority:
- Tool Belt Incendiary Ammo
- Pistol 2 > 4
- Flamethrower 4 > 2
- Bomb Kit 2 > 3
- Mortar 2
- Rocket Kick
Entering the Mortar Kit will trigger the Holosmith Relic which pulses a bleeding attacking around you, and since bleeding gives you might this can be used at the right time to increase the already applied conditions. Incendiary Ammo is an instant cast tool belt skill, so use it whenever it is off cooldown. When all of these skills have been used, start from the beginning with the Pistol 2 and skip to the next Kit if Pistol 4 is not off cooldown, and so on.
There are also plenty of blinds and CCs to help you kite enemies and avoid their attacks.

CC – Big Ol’ Bomb, Flamethrower 3, Mortar 3, Pistol 5, and Bomb Kit 5
If you do manage to take damage, you can heal up with Blast Finisher combos within Water Fields.
