GW2. Best Open World Builds. Celestial Reaper Open World. Necromancer PvE.
The Celestial Reaper for Open World is a hybrid necromancer build that maximizes bleed damage due to the chill condition applying additional bleeding. This means that any skill that applies fear also does damage because Reapers chill enemies who they fear. Other traits also allow you to get chill from blind and vulnerability from chill, allowing you great burst potential because of how many effects can stack on a single skill.
Fears also give quickness, meaning you want to rotate between your fear abilities from Staff 5, Sword 5, and Reaper Shroud 3 to maintain quickness. “Chilled to the Bone!” also gives a lot of quickness when used in melee range. The boon duration from Celestial gear allows this quickness to be near permanent along with higher stability, might, and other boon uptimes. Quickness speeds up your sword 1 skill chain which is useful because the third part in the chain is a chill, allowing you to get repeatable and quick bleed application.
While the Curses and Spite traits have the best hybrid synergies for a celestial build, they lack self-sustain. Use the long range of Sword and Staff to reposition more safely, and use the Sword skills (1 and 4) to heal up in between Shroud rotations. Avoid using the second cast of the Sword skills if you are under pressure as they sacrifice life.
Skill Rotation:
- Staff 5 > 3 > 2 > Swap
- Sword 5 > Well of Darkness > Sword 111
- Enter Shroud > 2 > 3 > 3 > 5 > 4 > 2
Because this build does not use Soul Reaping, Shroud cooldowns may be longer than you expect. Don’t enter Shroud whenever it’s available, spend a bit more time recasting the Sword auto-attack chain. Swap to Staff only when you are going to enter Shroud soon after so you aren’t stuck with the long cooldowns before being able to swap to Swords.
