Role: Assassin
The D/P Daredevil is a thief WvW roaming build with high mobility, stealth, and burst damage to assassinate key targets before they can receive reinforcements. While stealth has many counters, it still allows survival in many disadvantageous situations with dodging and movement.
Your main burst is from Backstab which is enabled when in stealth, but to get value from the damage of this skill you need to combine it with other damage modifiers or disables. Then finish off enemies by interrupting them with Pistol 4, Steal, or Dagger 2 which deals more damage to low health targets.
Basic Opener
- Pistol 5 > Dagger 2 > Dodge > Backstab (1) > Dagger 3 > 111 > Steal > 222
Faster Opener
- Pistol 5 > Dagger 2 + Steal (mid cast) > Backstab > Dagger 3
Not always is this combo suggested because it costs a good amount of initiative and enemies may just dodge it when they see you stealth. Baiting cooldowns and dodges is required to ensure you land your combos. Also, the use of Impairing Daggers and Impact Strike can disable enemies so that they can’t dodge, or at least force them to use their cooldowns faster.
The quickness gained from the Celerity sigil on disabling an enemy allows you to output extreme pressure in a short window of time. Dagger 1 can do great damage with quickness so try to ensure the final part of that chain lands. Depending on the class you steal from, the stolen abilities can also be used within your combos, and the Improvisation trait will grant you two instances of that stolen ability. It is extremely important to land steal because of this.
However, you must balance your decision between landing steal as often as possible and Stealing for momentum. The daze and other benefits tied to steal can be used to interrupt a heal, prevent counter pressure so you can follow through with your burst, or close the gap if your target is moving away too fast. Wasting steal or using it too early can result in stalling the fight longer than you can sustain it. If no opportunity to steal presents itself, play passively and use Shortbow 2 or stealth while waiting for an opening or your Steal to come off cooldown, then go aggressive when you see an opening.

Sword/ dagger is great fun too
I’m completely new to thief and looked up Sneak Attack you say to use during basic opener. Wiki says Sneak Attack is pistol main hand but this build uses pistol offhand? Am I missing something? x_x
That was a mistake, meant to say “Stealth Attack” now I changed it for Backstab to avoid confusion, ty for letting me know and sorry 🙂
I don’t understand how Fireworks relic works here, since none of a thief’s skills have a CD.

Hey Jen, Love the build and your helpful replies, what do you mean when you say “Steal for momentum” ? I have had no luck with google searches.
Momentum for like to keep your aggressive flow, to continue pressuring, a teleport or gap closer to keep yourself on them
Did you test it with critical strikes instead of SA?
Shadow Arts is too overpowered in WvW for this build.
I think the 7% increase on the critical is not so optimal. The relic of daredevil, on the other hand, increases the chance of the critical (100%) after a dodge .
Daredevil relic can work sure, but its not optimal to waste a dodge just to make sure you are doing critical.
Is it dead after latest patch ?
I can’t say dead, but deff not overpowered anymore, we still testing more on this build, some changes will be made for sure.
