GW2. D/P Daredevil WvW Roaming Build. Thief World vs World.

The Shadow Arts D/P Daredevil is a thief WvW roaming build with one of the highest mobility in the game. While stealth has many counters, it still allows survival in many disadvantageous situations with dodging and movement. This ability to overextend to deal its burst damage allows it to secure kills on high priority targets. With Shadow Arts, you focus on stealth application to generate lifesteal and initiative over time to maintain pressure on targets, then finish them off with Heartseeker when they get low.
Basic Opener:
- Pistol 5 > Dagger 2 > Backstab > Dagger 3 > 111 > Steal > 222
Faster Opener:
- Pistol 5 > Dagger 2 + Steal (mid cast) > Backstab > Dagger 3
You will use the 5>2 Black Powder into Heartseeker stealth combo often, but to be more efficient when using multiple finishers, wait until your stealth is about to run out and then cast Heartseeker again so that you leave stealth while still in the Heartseeker animation. This will make you leave and then immediately reenter stealth to get double the value from the Shadow Arts traits.
After landing your Backstab, decide if you can continue to pressure the target with your auto attack chain (111) or you need to use Shadow Shot (3) to gap close. Always try to land the final part of the auto attack chain because it does the most damage, and try to do this during the daze and quickness duration from your steal (F1) with Celerity Sigil. Dodge away as soon as your enemy starts to counter pressure and restart the Stealth Combo Opener.
Prioritize using Steal for momentum. This can be done to interrupt a heal, prevent counter pressure so you can follow through with your burst, or to close the gap if your target is moving away too far. But wasting it or using it too early can result in stalling the fight longer than you can sustain it. Play passively and use Shortbow 2 or stealth while waiting for an opening or your Steal to come off cooldown, then go aggressive when you see an opening.

I’m completely new to thief and looked up Sneak Attack you say to use during basic opener. Wiki says Sneak Attack is pistol main hand but this build uses pistol offhand? Am I missing something? x_x
That was a mistake, meant to say “Stealth Attack” now I changed it for Backstab to avoid confusion, ty for letting me know and sorry 🙂
I don’t understand how Fireworks relic works here, since none of a thief’s skills have a CD.

Hey Jen, Love the build and your helpful replies, what do you mean when you say “Steal for momentum” ? I have had no luck with google searches.
Momentum for like to keep your aggressive flow, to continue pressuring, a teleport or gap closer to keep yourself on them
Did you test it with critical strikes instead of SA?
Shadow Arts is too overpowered in WvW for this build.
