The Power Soulbeast for Open World is a ranger build with extreme burst damage in melee and at a distance due to the many damage modifiers it can gain by merging with the pet and using “Sic ‘Em!” which buffs the pet but while merged it buffs the ranger. It can also survive by unmerging with the pet and letting the pet tank for it while it uses the far range of the longbow to attack from a safe distance.
The build is simple to learn, rewards skillful gameplay, and has a popular traditional archer playstyle, which is why it is one of the most played builds in the game.
Merge using the F5 to gain the heavy damage modifiers from Beast Mastery and “Sic ‘Em!” Try to fit your burst within the duration of your “Sic Em!” You also gain damage modifiers and Fury from the Twice as Vicious trait whenever disabling an enemy, so using a CC like Greatsword 5 or Longbow 4 before using your burst will increase the damage.

- Merge with Smokescale
- Longbow 5
- One Wolf Pack + “Sic ‘Em!”
- Longbow 2 > Swap
- Greatsword 2 > 5 > 2 > Worldly Impact (F3)
- Greatsword 111 > 2 > 3 > Swap

updated now that you don’t need pack runes to crit cap, just take scholar runes instead

Never mind I am dumb. Electrical wyvern is the answer!
In the video, rune of the pack is being mentioned to use instead of scholar. I guess pack is better for being in a team and scholar for solo open world ?
fury uptime results in higher damage than scholar if you would otherwise not have enough fury
How good is the Longbow variant for solo open world? The video gameplay, doesn’t really focus on open world. I’m just worried that the zerker gear recommended would really make it hard to survive encounters solo, and enemies do sometimes lose aggro from your pet.
surviving long term isnt always decided by how tanky you are, but often how much sustain you have. The zakiros relic allows you to heal more the more damage you deal, allowing you good sustain so long as you dont get one shot.
