Twilight Arbor Dungeon Guide

GW2. Dungeon Guide Twilight Arbor. A complete guide on how to complete Twilight Arbor Dungeon. Story and Explorable mode. All paths.

Getting There

Enter Twilight Arbor from the dungeon entrance at Twilight Arbor Waypoint – [&BEEFAAA=] in Caledon Forest or by talking to the Dungeon Transportation NPC south of Fort Marriner Waypoint – [&BDAEAAA=] in Lion’s Arch.

While this dungeon is soloable by a well-geared level 80, it can be quite a challenge and it is recommended to bring at least 2-3 players for this. Aether Path requires 4 players.

Story Mode

  • Twilight Arbor Story Mode is for players level 50 and up. Completing this will unlock Explorable mode which is for players level 55 and up except for the Aether Path which requires level 80. You can do explorable mode without having done Story Mode, but at least one person in the group must have completed Story Mode to open an Explorable Path.
  • While progressing through the dungeon, avoid interacting with the blooms. They can either be nightmare court or dream sylvari. The nightmare court will attack you and the dream sylvari will grant you a buff that prevents a fatal attack on you, but generally this is not so valuable so it is not worth the gamble.
  • When you reach the Lake of Fear, you will see that Caithe cannot progress beyond a certain point, and she requires you to go collect some items to build a bridge.
    • One of these items is in the water on a champion mob, make sure to have decent underwater weapons
    • One is in a corner near the water’s edge
    • One is inside a group of fern hounds by a shallow pool
  • Continue finishing off Faolain’s champions until you reach a blighted husk. This is invulnerable until you throw orbs at it which you gain by killing the nightmare courtiers inside the blooms around the room. Finish them and head to the final boss.
  • Faolain’s Illusions
    • The illusions must all be taken out around the same time
    • Faolain will revive the illusions if left alone for a while after taking one out
    • CC or deal damage to Faolain after taking out one of the illusions to prevent her revival

Explorable Mode

Better rewards are offered in explorable mode, and each path gives an extra bit of liquid gold once per day, so doing more difficult or longer paths may be worth it if it pays more.

Also doing 8 different unique paths will complete the Dungeon Frequenter repeatable achievement to earn a which contains 150 Tales of Dungeon Delving and 5 Gold.

All explorable paths provide 20 Tales of Dungeon Delving after completion, but the first time each day you will get 80 Tales of Dungeon Delving as a bonus, for a total of 100 daily. This currency can be used to redeem other rewards like weapons and armor skins with exotic stats, runes, sigils, and other materials.

Forward Path

Length: Medium
Difficulty: Medium
Reward: 35 Silver

  • Start by choosing to fight the Nightmare Court (level 55) and progress through the toxic flora.
  • The volatile blooms create poison clouds if you go near them but can easily be killed and can rally you if you go down.
  • After killing enough Nightmare Vines, talk to Morrigu to choose between paths. You pick forward.
  • After passing the lake area you will be in a room with nightmare court inside protective bubbles, entering these normally will down you. You must enter the portals in the sides of the room to hopefully be placed next to a courtier inside a bubble who you can then attack. Blocks can also get you through bubbles.
  • Cross through the bridge while watching out for spiders that can petrify you, keep your distance and keep hitting volatile blooms as you pass by to keep the poison levels down.
  • Reach the final area where you take on the nightmare court champion who opens the area to the final boss.
  • Nightmare Tree
    • Extra trees will spawn which have the potential to immobilize you, try to hit them while hitting the boss
    • A ground smash is necessary to dodge, watch for the animation of lifting the hands and smashing the ground. Other animations can be similar

Up Path

Length: Short
Difficulty: Medium
Reward: 35 Silver

  • Start by choosing to fight the Nightmare Court (level 55) and progress through the toxic flora.
  • The volatile blooms create poison clouds if you go near them but can easily be killed and can rally you if you go down.
  • After killing enough Nightmare Vines, talk to Morrigu to choose between paths. You pick up.
  • Lure the groups of spiders one by one into the hallway to avoid pulling too many at once. They can petrify you.
  • Malrona
    • She alternates between two attacks so you can expect one after the other
    • One is a frontal cone poison spray
    • Other is a massive volley of poison projectiles at all players
    • The poison cone can be easily avoided by standing behind the boss, but the poison volley needs to be dodged or outranged, prepare for this attack by moving away to give you more time to dodge.
  • Keep progressing through waves of spiders and wurms until you reach another spider boss. Avoid walking into the spider eggs or they will hatch and attack you.
  • Reach the next area where you take on the nightmare court champion who opens the area to the final boss.
  • Nightmare Tree
    • Seed pods will spawn which have the potential to heavily damage you. Keep moving at all times to avoid their arcing projectiles
    • A ground smash is necessary to dodge, watch for the animation of lifting the hands and smashing the ground. Other animations can be similar

Aether Path

Length: Long
Difficulty: Hard
Reward: 66 Silver
NOTE: You need at least 4 players to complete the shock floor puzzle

  • Start by choosing to fight Scarlet’s Aetherblades (level 80) and progress through the toxic flora.
  • At the bottom of the waterfall there are some toxic husks and spiders. You can be stun locked and petrified in their damage, so be quick about interacting with them if you must get near.
  • Travel up the next slope to clear out some jungle worms and enter the next clearing for a puzzle.
  • Ooze Maze
    • Two Slick Oozes must be lured to the other side of the room to grease the cogs to open the door.
    • The ooze will follow whoever has the buff you gain by interacting with the plant next to where the two oozes spawn.
    • Lava elementals will spawn and try to kill your party and the oozes. Use reflects or CC to stop them, but be careful not to kill the ooze when handling the lava elementals who will respawn anyway.
    • Do not lure the ooze into the fire by moving too quickly, but also do not move so slowly that the buff wears off or the ooze dies.
    • Coordinate two players to lure the oozes on both sides and get the buff at the same time while the rest of the party handles lava elementals
  • Travel through the next area and take out the aetherblades before reaching the next boss.
  • Sparky and Slick
    • Killing Sparky or Slick first will heavily pressure your group. Try to damage them evenly so they die at the same time. Slick has more health so damage him first.
    • Slick will shoot oil on the ground and Sparky will set it on fire. If many of these get lit the room can pulse heavy damage on your party and will need healing.
    • One player will be targeted by an ooze, seen by the blue heart above their head. This player can lure the ooze to soak up the slicks on the ground to prevent it from being set on fire.
    • Killing the ooze will only make your party take a lot of damage, so watch where you are putting down AoE and make sure everyone can kite the ooze if they become targeted.
  • The next area introduces generators which you must kill the holographic aetherblades near to damage it. The explosions when they are defeated can hurt you too so killing too many at a time in one place can also be dangerous.
  • If you see a Steam Watcher, rush it down before it can call more enemies.
  • Jump down into the pit full of aetherblades and peel away the aetherblades at your own pace until you can reach the boss.
  • Foreman Spur
    • Whirling axes will be dropped on the ground. Make sure not to stand in these as they can prevent you from being revived due to their constant damage.
    • A heavy wind will spawn around the boss pushing players outwards away from the safe zone in the eye of the storm. This constricts your space a lot and you will sometimes need to use dodges and blocks instead of movement.
    • The boss will begin spinning rapidly and chasing a target. Use all of your defensive cooldowns to survive and get out of the way of this.
  • Go up the ramp to the next puzzle.
  • Shock Floor Puzzle
    • You must step on the pedestals that become raised to progress this puzzle. Getting to the pedestal can be tricky because if you step on the electrified floor you will become charged and react negatively with the pedestal, knocking you off of it.
    • Predict the pattern of the floor or use port skills when there is a safe space next to the pedestal then jump on.
    • Repeat this for each pedestal until you reach the final phase where four pedestals need to be stepped on. This requires at least four players. When all four have a player standing on them a holographic will spawn at one of the corner pedestals. This holographic must be killed next to the door to charge it and open up.
    • The party must work together to get the holographic to the other side of the room without killing it early. Use stealth if it is on you so it can go elsewhere, or use pulls and pushes to position it closer to the door where you can kill it.
  • Continue through more aetherblades, using line of sight to bunch them up, until you reach the final boss
  • Clockheart
    • Phase 1 requires you to destroy all eight generators. Lure the holographics next to the generators and then kill them
    • The floor becomes electrified and can force you away from the generators, but some pedestals will raise, allowing you to escape the electrified floor.
    • Once all the generators are finished, you will enter a cutscene and the boss will come out.
    • Phase 2 starts with the boss sending out sharp cogs that will stay there on the ground pulsing damage and conditions. Immediately dodge away as soon as the cutscene ends and avoid these areas.
    • Over time the boss gains stacks that make it resist damage until it becomes fully immune to damage and enabling it to do a massive attack which knocks everything away with several hits that deal heavy damage. Luring a holographic toward the boss and killing it on top of the boss will remove these stacks allowing you to avoid the attack and to continue damaging the boss.
    • Dodge the slam the boss does after it raises its hand in the air.

Achievements

Twilight Assaulter – 25AP

Only this path features achievements. The meta achievement requires you to complete all 17 achievements in the category. The rewards are 25AP and a

Greasing the Gears – 5AP

Complete the ooze puzzle to open the gate, you will get this achievement as part of the normal dungeon progression.

Stay Cool – 2AP

Complete the ooze puzzle to open the gate, without any player touching the fires. Be aware that pets and minions can make this achievement fail if they touch the fire. This is already something you want to do, but it requires you to be a bit more clean with your pathing to achieve this.

Fire and Oil – 5AP

Defeat Sparki and Slick, you will get this achievement as part of the normal dungeon progression.

Not in Charge Anymore – 5AP

Defeat Foreman Spur, you will get this achievement as part of the normal dungeon progression.

Who’s in Charge Here? – 10AP

During the fight against Foreman Spur, make sure to kill him first and then finish off his entire crew. Usually the entire room attacks if you pull the boss, but you can lure him off the side and focus him fast to leave a few enemies to kill after.

Hack Attack – 5AP

Disrupt the security panel in order to progress deeper into the dungeon, you will get this achievement as part of the normal dungeon progression.

Grounded – 10AP

Don’t get hit by the electric floors in the security room during the shock floor puzzle. This achievement can be done without participating, because the other 4 can complete the puzzle for you, meaning you remove the potential of being shocked and losing credit. However, someone must take the risk, so the best way to get this without failing is to use a port skill. Wait until the space next to a pedestal is open and then port to it, then jump on the pedestal. Since you need one player on all four pedestals for the last part anyway, you can stay on your pedestal once you reach it and expect others to make it to their own pedestals. No one needs to get off of a pedestal to move the holographic to the door console if you use stealth, pulls, pushes, and manage the holographic properly without killing it. So ideally if four players are working together to help complete the puzzle, there is only a small window of time where you risk being shocked, and it’s getting to your pedestal. Invulnerability may help avoid being shocked as well, but blocking and dodging through the shock floors won’t.

Cleaned Your Clockheart – 5AP

Defeat the Legendary Clockheart and complete the dungeon.

Above and Beyond – 10AP

After the Dungeon is completed, during the 10 minutes before the instance closes, several events will occur as “post dungeon objectives”.

To earn this achievement your group needs to complete all five objectives in a single run. The first three events will occur at same time so your group needs to split:

  • Two players to help the Lionguards out (Event #1)
    • Head to Aetherblade Shipyard Waypoint
  • One player stopping the Aetherblade Officer (Event #2)
    • Follow Caithe until spotting the veteran officer to kill
  • Two players escorting Caithe to Scarlet’s room (Event #3)
    • Follow Caithe very closely all the way

Later everybody can group to finish the other 2 events which are the EMP and the chests. Make sure everybody has at least 25 to create 5 Completed Aetherkeys.

Objectives / Events:

  1. Help the Lionguard clear out all remaining Aetherblades.
  2. Stop the Aetherblade officer from escaping the facility
  3. Accompany Caithe to Scarlet’s Inner Sanctum
  4. Use EMP Grenades on the Aetherblade airships
  5. Locate and open the five hidden Aether chests

The following achievements are related to your participation in each one of these events.

Lionguard Justice – 2AP

During the event #1 “Help the Lionguard clear out all remaining Aetherblades” defeat the remaining Aetherblades without losing any Lionguards. The Lionguards are gathered right by the Aetherblade Shipyard Waypoint, defeat waves of enemies to protect all five of them.

What Does She Know? – 1AP

This is the event #3 “Accompany Caithe to Scarlet’s Inner Sanctum”. After defeating the final boss, follow Caithe very closely and you will gain access to the secret room and earn this achievement, once you are here you can earn the next two achievements as well. Check this video to see how it’s done.

Secrets in the Forest – 1AP

This is the event #3 “Accompany Caithe to Scarlet’s Inner Sanctum”. Once inside the secret room speak with Caithe to earn this achievement.

BUG: There are reports that one of the ships cannot be shot down. A possible solution is having one player leaving and rejoin the instance, then throw the grenade to the airship.

Pirate Booty – 5AP

This is the event #5 “Locate and open the five hidden Aether chests”. Basically you need to navigate and open all five chests. Remember you need 5 Completed Aetherkeys to open them. The progression of the achievement is personal. Check the following video to see their locations:
